Pep's First Training Session - Video

Was great to see so many youngsters involved, I can see a few being very involved this season

I genuinely think every training video which is posted on YouTube this season will get 5+ pages if they focus on a drill. That was fantastic to watch.

Reading the book was good, but actually seeing a Pep drill was great. I want more.

Also, Nasri is going to be big this season.

That was great to watch. Noticed the coaches observing the players from afar whilst Pep was hands on on the field.

No chance of Yaya strolling about in games with this system.

You dont want to be the player giving the ball away in that session. Think it was the keeper who tried a long ball towards the end and went nowhere near his intended target, bet his heart sank.

Meanwhile Maureen gets down to business at Carrington

Wow, I am positively fizzing with excitement just to see the first team sheet next season.

If you'd been there and had the instructions I assume it made perfect sense, but when I watched it, I didn't understand what they were doing
I think he was trying to get away from players being programmed to follow the ball, and by introducing another changed the direction and the position that players should take up. This helps when it comes to finding space to receive the ball plus works on their fitness away from the gym. I watched a couple of training sessions two years ago and it was just repetition and not very inspiring. Today was just a glimpse that maybe the players will find it more stimulating under a progressive coach - At least that was my take on it ha!

Well that was fucking amazing, I think most of us guys have a bit of a man crush and the women are obviously in love with him! He has an aura of confidence that I don't think we got from Pelle or even Bobby, even though he admits he's here to learn he's confident in his ability. I like that he has them working on positional immediately, obviously we are missing key players but let's work with what we have now. IMO positioning was the number 1 weakness in our team last season, it was criminal how we were caught out again and again.

It was interesting to note that he got the goalie to take the ball to the byline to give the full backs time to get into postion to receive the ball. It means that you will need proper ball players at the back who are able to control the ball and pass. It also means that if the oppostion press then you have opened large spaces further up the pitch in which if you can pass quickly enough and have enough pace you can set up a counter attack

I can't be the only one watching that with an erection? Just me? Oops, too much info.

Love how hands on he is. Love that Pep's idea of pre-season training is to play football rather than just run up hills until you vomit. Love how vocal he is. Just love it. Also, I found it funny that he still throws in German words by mistake!
