Peterborough (A) | Post Match Thread

We aren't playing well though. Outside of how team play us. Everton pressed us and disrupted us some. We just seem slower and more sluggish of late. Looks like the football from the beginning of last season.

Hopefully we push it up a notch. Our buildups are so pedestrian of late
It’s no coincidence the centre backs were subbed at half time.

Our build up from defence has been really poor in the past few games.

Laporte may have completed every pass he attempted at Everton, but none were progressive.

Stones needs to be at CB for a while whilst we get back to our proper build up.

Forced reading of the matchday forum was considered as an alternative to guantamo but refused on humanitarian grounds.
As #Kaz Would has posted, the match thread is a sofa-based version of being at the game; raw emotion, knee-jerk, attention-seeking and plain ol' wummery.
If somehow "shit" was verboten then the post count would be halved, add referencee to rags/dippers and it would be lucky to reach 5 pages.
Not a problem for me, After many years, it's not hard to skim past the blatantly bollox, missing some gems no doubt but necessary. IMO only.

Can you imagine a forum where nobody complained?

It would put @Ric on bankruptcy alert.

This is what forums are for, some people like to vent, some people like to vent a lot and other people just like to read threads and not post.

If you don't like what you're reading just move on to another thread, the number of people (not meaning you tbh) that complain about a certain thread that it is obvious what it contains within is unreal (media thread for example).

Of course, there is a lot of overreaction in that thread, some of it just a lot of it not.
But my point is that the match day thread drives away people for precisely the reason you state, sensible people avoid it, which makes the thread even worse. But yeah there is nothing to be done about it, in the same way you can't stop some the dickheads in there being called dickheads when it's over and it turned out to be another comfortable 2-0 win.

For me the Match day Forum is a healthy alternative to kicking the cat. ps I am not Kurt Zouma!!!

Both CBs picked up minor knocks First Half apparently -so that’s why they were Subbed

It is no different to grumbling at the game or in the pub , it just looks worse written down and we have a dozen flappers and several wums
It's far worse than at the match or watching in the pub, neither of which bother me. I stay out of the match thread, and even the pre once the teams announced, following the thread while watching the game sucks any enjoyment of the football out of it.

Any feedback from attendees on the pre-match beers and atmosphere around Peterborough?
Was there a City gathering at Charters?

the danger was always in our minds and anything can happen in cup game. the longer it was going on the more we looked unsettled ? but we nearly give them goal and it sort of kick us into action

i will say the jack grealish is what we should try and do a lot more in games
nothing wrong in going over the top and players do make them runs all the time and never get the pass so it can work and we can benefit from not over playing

Peterborough had a great day out for them, played ok the 1st half (and had an amazing chance beginning 2nd) and gave their fans something to roar on, which is good for them especially given their league form. But they were never winning, we took an hour to pull our finger out but we got there in the end. Was fine, they were up for it, we looked a bit meh, pitch was pap, job done.

Well, that is the thing really, it wasn't really a comfortable win was it?

2-0 is 2-0 but against a team that is bottom of their division with a minus goal difference in the 40's and not getting a shot on target until the 60th minute, is that really comfortable?

Is it acceptable?

There are plenty of dickheads in the thread but there are plenty of decent posters as well, your sentence (bolded) implies there isn't and that is not really fair.

I object to the broad sweep of the brush that suggests all that post in the matchday thread are dickheads or as the other guy said know nothing about football, which, come on now is a bit much, no?

Would never say they know nothing about football.

But they definitely know less than Pep.

I think it's comfortable enough and acceptable enough. Part of our game is having to break down stubborn teams, and we do that slowly over 90 minutes. I don't think we are at our best now, but I think losing it when we haven't blown a team away before half time is silly.

But we've moved from me tone policing the match thread to you tone policing me! I'm not overly fussed, like I said would just like to discuss the game as is rather than each game being the end of the world.

I post in there sometimes, of course there are decent posters. There are some twats, though, and Kaz's original point was that if people don't like it they should leave. My point is they do, and then the twats drown out the sensible people. Which happens. It has the reputation it has for reasons.

No-one looks great every game. They raised theirs, made it as difficult as possible, we were a bit off. Nothing more drastic than that. This is football.
Personally I enjoyed the contest, believed that we'd always do enough when it mattered. Enjoyed hearing the masses singing their hearts out and 2 good goals. We move on.
PS the majority on the match day thread are panicky, pessimistic moaners.

I take it our home game against Brighton will have to be rearranged now then.
