John you constantly come on here winding up city fans. You think its fine RVP going straight up to city fans screaming fuck off to them its thats not inciting the crowd I dont know what is. He didnt even get a booking yet Ades being hung out to dry.
Whatever mate, if you think the two celebrations are the same then i can't really discuss the matter with you. You will be up in arms if dunne ran the full length of the pitch at villa to celebrate in front of us.
RVP celebration happens time and time again by city players and non city players. Adebayors does not. It warranted a yellow card end of the matter, i am not exactly calling for him to be banned am i, just that a yellow was justified but well done for giving a bit back.
It warranted a yellow card because it was "excessive"?

"Fifa rules state that a player
must be cautioned when:
In the opinion of the referee, he makes gestures which are provocative, derisory, or inflammatory."
In the opinion of the referee...
let's be even-handed then: I think Adebayor's "gesture" was provocative and insulting inflammatory. I think Van Persie's was provocative, AND derisory, AND inflammatory.

A player
must be cautioned if:
•
in the opinion of the referee, he makes gestures which are provocative,
derisory or inflammatory.
Leaving the field of play [not in itself cautionable during celebrations] to stand in front of opposing fans (when your own fans are right there) and shout, "Fuck off, fuck off, fuck off" would seem to qualify for a caution. Perhaps the only reason it doesn't, is because we see this kind of thing (too) often, and we're inured to it.
Derisory - one synonym is insulting. Is shouting "fuck off" to opposition fans insulting? Was it done to provoke a reaction?
Nowhere in the rules does it have an exception if the paying public is getting on your back.
