PETITION: CLUB SHOULD REPORT RVP.

Signed. My comments were:

'When Van Persie scored he ran immediately to the City fans (when he could have gone to his own who were at the same end of the ground) screaming obscentites; this compares with Adebayor, who made no gestures whatsoever. In addition, Van Persie made a two footed tackle on Adebayor with his studs raised, and was not even spoken to by the referee - this of course being the spark to the well documented 'Adebayor incident'.

Of course the double standards in place for the Big 4 cartel mean that Adebayor will be made an example of whilst no action will be taken against anyone else. Gary Neville's £5,000 fine for his actions against Liverpol wil have no bearing on the punishment whatsoever as it only sets a precedent for other Big 4 clubs.

As for the stamp, this is a straightforward trial by media. If Clattenberg couldn't see the incident he should have gone to Specsavers. What is now being suggested is that referees can now review every decision looking at things via different camera angles. Oh sorry it isn't, it's just this incident. And any involving an opponent of a Big 4 team.

The double standards are appalling. How for example could the assistant referee not have seen Rooney's imfamous premeditated elbow on Faye at Stoke last Boxing Day? Judge for yourself - this guy should also have gone to Specsavers:

Or how about Ronaldo's deliberate kick at Wilkinson in the same match?

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTPdVMjii8g" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTPdVMjii8g</a>

Both incidents were discussed at lenth on MOTD the same night - but I don't recall similar displays of righteous indignation by the media by and large, and the FAPL clearly weren't interested in a show trial, so nowt happened.

Then there was Rooney's infamous stamp on an Aalborg player in last year's Champions League - different jurisdiction, but the same principle applies - carry on Wayne, no problem there my son.

Punish Adebayor by all means, but if we're using video technology in this manner then there has to be some consistency, which means players from the Big 4 clubs also get punished where appropriate.

But I know that won't happen in my lifetime.

If a complaint is made to GMP by a fan in that area & made public, it could kickstart a reaction from the prem.

John you constantly come on here winding up city fans. You think its fine RVP going straight up to city fans screaming fuck off to them its thats not inciting the crowd I dont know what is. He didnt even get a booking yet Ades being hung out to dry.

Whatever mate, if you think the two celebrations are the same then i can't really discuss the matter with you. You will be up in arms if dunne ran the full length of the pitch at villa to celebrate in front of us.

RVP celebration happens time and time again by city players and non city players. Adebayors does not. It warranted a yellow card end of the matter, i am not exactly calling for him to be banned am i, just that a yellow was justified but well done for giving a bit back.
It warranted a yellow card because it was "excessive"?

"Fifa rules state that a player must be cautioned when:

In the opinion of the referee, he makes gestures which are provocative, derisory, or inflammatory."

In the opinion of the referee...

let's be even-handed then: I think Adebayor's "gesture" was provocative and insulting inflammatory. I think Van Persie's was provocative, AND derisory, AND inflammatory.

A player must be cautioned if:
• in the opinion of the referee, he makes gestures which are provocative,
derisory or inflammatory.

Leaving the field of play [not in itself cautionable during celebrations] to stand in front of opposing fans (when your own fans are right there) and shout, "Fuck off, fuck off, fuck off" would seem to qualify for a caution. Perhaps the only reason it doesn't, is because we see this kind of thing (too) often, and we're inured to it.

Derisory - one synonym is insulting. Is shouting "fuck off" to opposition fans insulting? Was it done to provoke a reaction?

Nowhere in the rules does it have an exception if the paying public is getting on your back.

Dick Van Winkle is the archetypal playground bully. When somebody stands up to him, he goes away bleating that everybody is being beastly to him. I have seen him over the seasons tackling agressively, I have seen him over-aggressive, getting away with it and sometimes not. I put it down to the nature of the player and the nature of the game. But to use the OS of his club to come out with a holier-than-thou diatribe aimed at an ex-team mate, between whom it is clear there is previous and bad blood, is a simple shade of cowardice, and to suggest that he has never gone into a tackle with the purpose of hurting a fellow professional, just beggars belief. Some of the tackles you have perpetrated Dirty Dick, might well have splurted the ball away from an opponent, but to suggest, when they are writhing on the ground, that you didn't mean to hurt . . . . . Go and tell the fairies!

I sincerly hope Van Persie breaks his leg in a collision with adebayor in the game at the emirates.
