Petrol prices

There's your answer. Supermarkets want people in to buy their food etc, petrol stations don't care or as you already pointed have already sold/leased/franchised their retail space to other companies.
I tend to stay away from supermarket fuel after one particular batch set off pretty much every single warning light my car had.

Got it checked out and there was nothing wrong, just that the fuel was dodgy.

had this with a ford focus,as soon as i drove out of ASDA the engine light would come on,i'd wipe it off with the code reader but straight back on again, use that fuel up and stick £20 in at shell then clear the light it would stay off

Er indoors is outdoors in California, she saw regular gas in Sacramento for $6.05….crazy price!
About $4.50 gallon locally

This time last week ours was $3.89...gone up today, now at $4.49...as you say crazy!

It does not help that there are significant ideological factions within Western governments who believe these higher prices are a good thing. "Nudge" people and societies into green alternatives and whatnot.

Sounds great in theory and to people who can just go out and buy a Tesla.

Doesn't sound great to me when I think about gas prices and their almost perfect historical inverse correlation to the success of US Presidential incumbents. In other words hello fucking Donald Trump 2024.

That fucking clown has been handed all the talking points he needs by the general hostility of the present administration to fossil fuel production. The current fucking clown should have kept the green warriors in check I think.
Not sure how to tell you this but…. The President doesn’t set the price of fuel.

In related news…

So what we’re saying about green agendas?

Surely it's not beyond the wit of man to make cars run on cider, probably be better for the ozone layer too
