PGMOL Apologise to Everton. It WAS a Penalty!

It wasn't handball - I thought it at the time and I still do. The ball spins up off the pitch and brushes his sleeve it's a nothing incident and the fact Everton and the red media were crying just shows how desperate they are. David James set them straight on Sky Sports when he said he'd looked at several replays and it wasn't a penalty. If you've ever played the game at any level you know deep down it isn't a penalty.
The rules have changed since most people played the game.

Var was meant to get the so called wrong decision right
It’s ruined the game
I much preferred it when the ref or Lino got it wrong and everyone slagged the officials off-cheered or booed in an instant
Now we wait for someone miles away with his crayons to draw us a picture and let us know ten minutes later what he has drawn
Then we can celebrate or not as the case maybe
Definitely! This is what's spoilt my match day experience!

It also seems a lot worse when you get a bad VAR decision against you!

Now that a precedent has been set I expect every team that has a VAR decision go against them (rightly or wrongly) should expect an apology from PGMOL.

Was at the game and pretty sure everyone knew it was going to be given, was shocked when it wasn't given, but he was offside. Rodri could of picked up the ball and lobbed it at pickford's T-rex arms and it wouldn't of mattered. Apologies for nothing, nothing changes, Great away day and three points

It's not too late for Old Mother Riley to apologise for Taylor's handling of the CFC game when Sideshow Bob should have been sent off, and we end up with two sent off!
Yep, I think the ref was going in his pocket for a second yellow and completely bottled it. Sergio sent off, the aftermath included Chalobah reacting with Ferdy who reacted back and got sent off.

The laws change frequently to accommodate a range of preferred outcomes.
This is a big part of the problem which you and 'Vic' have pointed out.

For sure, the laws of the game have changed since most of us took a shot at goal in earnest in a real game but the rate of change/amendments to the laws of the game (especially handball and offside) in recent years has been bewildering. Add to this the lack of open communication from the officials involved in VAR judgements and it's little wonder people, especially those of us who are actually at a game, are confused by it all.

The people who run the game need to get their backsides into gear and sort it out, pronto.

Oh and as an aside - regarding the 'Everton penalty' and the apology from PIGMOL for the 'wrong decision', may I just reiterate my comment from the post-match thread last Saturday night which was aimed at so-called media pundits and the online WUMs supporting the Red Filths at either end of the East Lancs, all of whom immediately began banging on about the injustice that City were 'benefiting from': 'Richarlison was offside you cretins..'

Gordon McQueen once surgically removed both of Peter Barnes legs at Elland Road immediately in front of the referee and well inside the box. He was running at full tilt I recall. ‘Play on‘ came the shout from the ref, supported by the bark from his assistance dog.

Shit refereeing has happened for ever and will continue to happen. VAR will continue to misfire coz the people operating the system are inept and possibly/ probably bent.
