Phil Foden - 2018/19 Performances

After a good first half I felt he struggled to keep possession in the second half the other day and wasn’t involved enough.

We needed someone to put their foot on the ball and keep possession in that second half as we were looking tired but we kept giving it away and Phil was one of them who was at it.

Overall a great performance by an 18 year old but got a lot of improving and game understanding to grow yet.

I have a gut feeling Pep will let him at the rags....which could be pretty funny.

I think he will start Merlin and bring Foden off the bench. With his ability to get into the box, could be a very good option with 20 mins remaining if things are tight.

And ironic...cos he ran the rags ragged on his debut as a 16 yr old in the pre season game in front of an 80k crowd. ...
Two years ago the lad was skipping past pogba and herra like they weren't there....
Nobody from utd could get near him.
I say let him lose once more against utd.We need goals.

Seeing them struggle with Everton's press on Sunday, Foden should be in there ahead of Silva. If they play Matic, Fred and Pogba you just close Pogba down and chase their defence and they either go back to De Gea to boot long or hoof it themselves.

As long as we are alert to the counter (and Spurs were more dangerous in this regard than they will be), we will get plenty of chances.

He might go with Bernardo central amd Sane on the left. But we shall see.

I can see the argument for having Foden ahead of Leeroy against the Rag's.

The Rag's will just double up on Leeroy and crowd him out where as Foden is a bit of an unknown quantity which will play to his advantage.

Dont think its necessarily one for the other. Sterling looked so tired vs. Spurs that I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop to the bench.

Also Bernardo and Foden played together in the middle in the community shield, so that could be an option depending on David Silvas fitness.

Bernie and Foden on top form would destroy the Rag's midfield.
