Phil Foden to leave England camp

Doesn't look good but not enough firm evidence to draw any conclusions on the infidelity aspect imo.

One aspect that hasn't really been explored in this thread is the impact that lockdown has had on young people's mental health.

Yes I'm not young anymore but I've been signed off for 2 weeks with depression and anxiety.
Last week I felt suicidal and lockdown has had a profound affect on me.

Young lads who get paid a fortune to play football for a living. What do you expect? I think 90% of lads in their position would make mistakes like that too. I fact we all make stupid decisions.

Stockport Iceland special delivery for Phil Foden, shall I put it all in the Spare bedroom mate?

Irritating that he's now already had 1 more media scandal than Dave ever got involved in. If he's going to live up to him on the pitch, he'll need to learn to live up to him off it.

Perhaps demanding that a 20 year old kid lives up to being City's greatest ever player on the pitch, and one of the least contentious players ever off the pitch is not a great way to go about things?

He already has the pressure of being England's great big hope to deal with on top of his club fans holding him up Silva every time he does something.

Lampard's one of the most respected English players of the last 30 years and he had a sex tape with Ferdinand and Dyer at 22 and was thrown out of a hotel for drunkenly abusing yanks after 9/11 at 23.

Gareth Barry, the most boring player in history got drunk and stole a taxi. When he was nearly 40.

God knows what other kind of stuff Barry, Lampard and even David Silva would have gotten up to as 20 year olds in the days before social media and everyone in the world having a cameraphone. No one is a saint.

Demanding absolute, whiter than white inhuman perfection from someone every day of their lives is a one way road to crushing them under an absurd, manufactured pressure.

He will make mistakes, this won't be the only one. You just have to trust the club/Pep and England/Southgate will discipline him when he needs it, keep his feet on the ground and try to keep him roughly on the straight and narrow.

Mostly Phil's dealt with an insane rise to fame really well so far, and unless he starts making a habit of off-pitch indiscretions then fans trying to add to the disciplinary measures dished out by England and City is unlikely to help IMO.

That's a bit of a reach really. I know the lack of freedom has been difficult for us all, but for young people a lot of the extra stress has come through being trapped inside in small households, the disruption to their education and the fact their future job prospects and financial stability might be shot to pieces. He hasn't had to worry about any of that. Young people make mistakes but he's acted like a massive berk here. On his first international call up and with the rules being more than clear, it's such poor judgement and incredibly unprofessional.

Silly, silly boy.
That should have ended the thread on a Page 1, as it covers the actions and attitude!

You can take the boy out of the estate, but you can’t take the estate out of the boy!

After all the talk, the hype, and the decent game, he goes and ruins it like this? I hope he gets a good hiding and learns his lesson the first time, because he might not get a second time with the vulture media and pilgrim England coach.

He’s made a mistake and in the current climate a big one, however, I don’t think it calls for any hysterical responses... We’ve all been there at some point in our lives... People in glass houses ..!
