Phil Foden to leave England camp

Don’t agree with this. They are adults and should take responsibility for their own actions.
Barely outta nappies pal & I’m sure they will take full responsibility but don’t underestimate the power of the FA to make an absolute clusterfuck of organising a weekend away, we are talking about two kids given a bit of freedom after 6 months of lock down & it’s gone too their heads a little, hence the need for a senior pro to room with, and a hotel in an entirely bio secure environment, why do you think Gareth hasn’t completely thrown them under the bus? Like I said previously he’s one of us and a City player, England/The FA should be looking after him a lot better than they have

Glad to see he has been hung drawn and quartered before the full facts have been established.
Genuine question:

Southgate has already confirmed they are being sent back for breaching protocols and there are images circulating, so what facts could be established in your mind that would sufficiently vindicate them at this point?

I’m not defending their actions. I’m questioning why people think it’s unacceptable for two young players to room together when they’ve probably been doing it for the past 3 years at England youth level.

They’ve made a mistake and will have to accept what comes their way but to suggest this only happened because they roomed together is wrong. Maybe Phil should have been put with Walker and Greenwood with Grealish

Do footballers still "room" with eachother though? This happened in a different part of the hotel from where the players were staying.

None what so ever they broke Covid protocols but some of the relies before Southgate spoke

I think he means about allegedly shagging

Fair enough. I wasn’t commenting on that, as I don’t care about it, to be honest. I care about the breach that has been confirmed which was monumentally stupid.

I did choose to wait to post a response until there was official word from the England camp, but I understand the reactions of those that posted earlier.

Phil will bounce back if he can keep a low profile for a few weeks. I’d rather he did the business for City and England can wait.

It’s just a bit of a shame that we have waited years for players to graduate through the Academy to the first team and the two that have (Garcia and Foden) are in danger of letting themselves down.

He hasn’t though has he? Nobody is suggesting much other than complete disappointment in someone who should know better. I love City, and I love Phil, but he’s made a complete tit of himself getting sent home from his first international.

Not heard or read of 1 person questioning the set up of the England camp/hotel set up,he is our player handed over to England to be nurtured & taken care of, this would not of happened if it where a City pre season tour, definitely a mistake to allow two young lads to room together on their England debuts, that alone is an opportunity for stewardship by a senior player, if it transpires they visited another part of the hotel then that is also down to bad planning by the FA, this is a billion pound squad during a pandemic where is the security? I take it this didn’t happen in the wee hours as no curfew was broken, come on people This is the FA we are talking about!

There is a reason no one is questioning the set up of the FA because the players involved knew the rules, an isolated floor in the hotel has been booked for them and yet two grown adults decided to ignore this, abuse their managers trust, put other members of the squad and the match itself at risk.

It's also being reported now, that a hotel room outside the bubble was specifically booked by the players. The persons deserving of criticism are the players themselves.

He's 100% breached the protocols just by being sat in that room, guessing it's to do with why this bird was in their room. What was Phil's involvement in it all, did he invite her in?
