Phil Foden to Leeds on Loan?

Need to keep him here next season- he’s good enough for a lot more player no time - e.g 30 minutes sub appearances, all LC and FAC and the odd league start should be enough

I said I didn't think Foden would make it.

BULLSHIT. Don't try to rewrite history and pretend this is about people disagreeing about football. We both know that is a lie.

Lets be honest, you are getting stick because you claimed he was unprofessional without giving any details. The best I could make of it, you apparently saw him drunk in public.

The irony here is bloody delicious.

No one would have a go at your opinion if your reasoning wasn’t so shite. You’ve said he won’t make it with City and will only be mediocre because “elite players” show how good they are at 17/18. Seeing as you’ve only seen him play at 17 and then couldn’t name all of these elite players you mentioned then your rationales was bound to be questioned.

Oh, and you saw him pissed up on a train. The absolute horror of it. So now you want to write him off using your insider knowledge.
I've not "written him off", I just don't think he'll make it at City. Yes, I saw him pissed, as did a trainload of people, including several City fans. No horror show in times of yore, I agree, but players are very much more dedicated these days and I doubt those destined for the very top got/get hammered. But, he's young, allowed to make mistakes, on and off the pitch, so it's understandable, if not something I could heartily condone. Plenty think he'll make it, I don't. That's all. As for elite at 17/18, I give you a small number:
Tony Kroos
David Alaba
Alexandre Pato
Paolo Maldini
Franco Baresi

There are plenty more. If Foden can match the above, and in a City shirt, well, that'd be wonderful. Let's hope he does.

That is just an absurd statement. I have no idea why anyone besides James Milner would think that.

Yeah, absurd. Bet David Silva, KDB and Vinny were all getting pissed back in the day. And I’m sure Thierry Henry, Vieira, Buffon, Ronado etc, all thought it quite normal to smash a load of beer down their throats as lads. You’re right. Absolutely absurd.

Think you are being a bit unfair there BDH.

Don’t think the foreign players would ever consider getting pissed no matter what age whilst playing, it’s not in their culture/physche, unfortunately it can be in the British players.

I wasn’t on the train, so did not see it, and maybe it was a couple of drinks with mates and as he is not used to it, he was a bit tipsy.

Would only be concerned if was reported on several different occasions, and let’s face it, he has to be at the top physically/mentally if he is to make it in this fantastic City team.

We will see, and I as all City fans will be hoping he becomes an established City first team player over the next couple of seasons.

1) The issue is not about alcohol. He is talking about a mentality. Plenty of foreign players do all kinds of shit that would be considered "not ideal" for a professional athlete.

2) We are talking about a 17 year old. Anyone who wants to argue that a 17 year old who parities is not going to make it is an idiot.

I assume you don't think Sterling will make it because of all the "poor choices" he made as a teenager?

To be fair he's just giving his guy feeling and the reasoning behind his thinking. It is very possible foden won't make it at city, the level is incredibly high to get near this first team never mind become established in it. Fingers crossed for the lad.

I am sorry, but he is not. He is making a judgment based on seeing a 17 year old kid drunk once. That is not a gut feeling.

He is not a normal 17 year old getting his first job and getting a few drinks and going to parties, he is a 17 professional athlete trying to break into the first team at one of the top football clubs in the world managed by the most demanding of his players elite managers in the world who expects and demands the same elite standards from his players and how they conduct themselves on and off the pitch, if he is a 17 year old who likes to party (not saying he is) then he will have absolutely no chance of being an elite player and it really is that simple, to suggest an elite sportsman in today's football can still do such things is just wrong. As City fans we only have to look back at Michael Johnson and what a few drinks did to his career.

I think that you come too far by saying that you have to be elite at 17/18, and it is just funny if you put it into perspective:

Luka Modric - debuted for Zagreb when he was 20 years 10 months and 20 days old DEBUTED FOR DINAMO ZAGREB in shit League
David Silva - debuted in La Liga when he was 19 years 7 months 20 days old
Daniele De Rossi - debuted in Serie A at 19 years 6 months and 1 day old
Yaya Toure- debut in Jupiler Pro League at 18 years 2 months 29 days, and in Ligue 1 when he was 23...
even Zidane debuted in Ligue 1 at 18 years 2 months 16 days old

I could really go on, but I think it should be enough to show you that your point doesn't stand. I just showed you 5 great midfielders, who never looked a part at 17. Most of them wasn't considered great until they were 21-23, and yet they are, or were as elite as you can become.

Speaking about mistakes, all young players do them. Sterling baloon to start with, and we all did some stupid things at 17. I would not go as far as you, to say that he will not make it because he looked little drunk once when he was injured, or because he is not Messi and doesn't play as first team regular at 17. If 4 beers could destroy your life, or career almost noone would ever make it in life :)

He is great prospect, has all raw attributes to become great player, and given how he is built, we will see the best of him in 2-3 seasons in my opinion. If he will be next Bojan, Dos Santos, or next David Silva or Modric, only time will tell and non of us has a clue.

Thanks for getting that second sentence in there before the end.

I think a lot of footballers drink more than you think.

So what if he had afew jars, to believe it will effect his career is madness, Rooney was doing alot worse at that age and unfortunately he has had a good career. Yes if he develops a problem with drink but I would imagine our coaching and support staff will help him knock it on the head sharpish. If you believe none of the all time greats enjoyed a drink every now and again you are mistaken.

Why is anyone believing tapia’s Bullshit? He’s a known shit stirrer so don’t fall for it folks.

You only have to look at the title winning videos that were doing the rounds, Vinny, Stones, Walker all pissed up and what do you now they are all playing knockout world cup football a few weeks later. God only knows are their bodies are comping after such damage of a few drinks. In other words wipe your fanny man and stop looking for ways to kick the lad before hes had a chance. If you don't rate his ability thats up to you but its absurd to imply that having a few drinks on a night will stop him reaching first team levels.

Exactly there's a big difference between doing a Best or even a Johnson and having a few at the right time.

Seem to also remember Eddie still on the pop the following morning on social media after winning the league.
