Phone Thread

7th June!!

Are you thinking of taking a long time to decide?

Haha, Jan that was meant to say

The S9 is a great phone for everything you need. But so was the S8. There's barely any difference between them and I wouldn't expect the S10 to be noticeably better either. So my advice would be to get the S9 as you'd just be paying extra for essentially the same kit if you waited for the S10.

Ok cool, thanks for the advice, I won't bother waiting for the S10

Fuck up Al lol p20 pro is the one mate, is the best camera of any phone. the P20 is the cheaper model.

Yea I read it has a shit hot camera but people on forums say it's wank with snapchat/insta!?

Anyone advise me on what mobile phone to get? Contract runs out on 7th of June. Use my phone mostly for taking pictures, twitter, snapchat, instagram and using the internet. Wast hinking a Huawei P20 but some forums say that the snapchat and instagram videos are shit. I've got a redmi 5 plus currently and it's proper shit with snapchat and insta (particularly sound quality) and I don't want another phone like this. Was thinking a S9 maybe but wondering if I should wait as the s10 is out soon (although I'm not willing to pay over 35 a month unless it's well, well worth it). I don't do Apple it's a rip off. Advice Welcome, cheers
There will be quite a few new models out then with technology that will supercede what is currently available. It will cost you top dollar though.

At the moment the p20 pro mate is leading the way but Huawei are in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. I wouldn't get too alarmed as Huawei hardware/software is operational in at least 80% of UK cell sites across all networks. Can't see our government alongside Ofcom pulling the plug on them anytime soon as it would cost billions to replace their kit, and this would seriously affect every mobile phone user in the UK in using their phone.

Galaxy S10 out now with an S10 price tag to boot, the selling point is 5G, the salesman on the beeb website sounds like a Snake oil seller.

That foldable phone looks a bit bulky. I can see that being only used as a tablet

Im going to wait for reviews of the S10. Im still contemplating the Huwaei p20 pro.

My S8 currently has screen burn in. I didnt think id ever own anything that burns in like an old arcade machine

I had to Mate 20 Pro, it was a nice looking phone and after you get used to the quirks of the UI i actually came to prefer the way you use slide movements to move between screens. It also has some really good tech in it, sound is good, screen is superb, my fave feature was how you can cast your screen to the tv but you can cast it so that it creates a desktop session for you with a start button, pretty fucking cool for nerds like me. But, and this was the real kicker for me and the reason i'll never buy a Huawei again, their customer service is SHOCKING. Considering the price from initial sale was as much as an iPhone, they sent out a whole batch of phones with knackered screens, If you search the hash #gluegate, you'll see there was thousands of Mate Pro 20's with the screen turning green, my first one got so bad i couldn't even see anything on it. In total i got 4 phones from them all with the same issue, they have still to this day never admitted it in public and just left their customers to sort it themselves, joke of a company IMO.
I've ended up with a Pixel 3XL, it might not have the bells and whistles of the Mate Pro 20 but i get updates pretty much every month and the camera is out of this world. The biggest thing i miss from the Huawei is the battery, their battery life is amazing.

Most high end Android phones use OLED screens, screen burn is one of the issues with that tech.

I never knew, i just thought it would be a better LCD screen. I put it on game mode for a week and left it at full brightness (normally i have it dim) now i see a keyboard and browser permanently on the screen. That is a pisser for an expensive phone but not the end of the world

There are video's on YouTube that can help with screen burn, its a common issue with OLED's and most of the OLED tv's you can buy have a feature that helps against screen burn which is similar to these YouTube Videos. You will need to play the video on for a few hours so just leave it on at night and it should hopefully be sorted when you get up.

Or you just have the youtube video now burnt on the screen ha

On another note, looking for a new phone about 200-220.

Looking at Honor 8x, Nokia 7 Plus, Honor Play. Anyone got one or in fact recommend anything else?
