Pictures of your Dog

Had to let my lad go last night, had a bit of a tumble down some concrete steps a couple of weeks ago, then 3-4 days later started to struggle on his walks scraping his claws, seems he may have exasperated a nerve problem in his back and started to lose use of his left hind and front leg, so sad as he was in great health two weeks ago to seeing him at the end, so prefer to try and remember him for being the lovable, lazy, greedy sex pest he was.

For anyone considering getting a dog, please don’t be put off by getting an older rescue (with a sound temperament), he was brilliant and I don’t regret a single day, not saying he didn’t have any challenges, which is always likely with a hound (following its nose, finding the most obnoxious smelling things he could find to eat), but he was genuinely a wonderful little dog and he’s left a very big hole in my life.
Gutted for you mate.

Thank you mate, sad thing is, he was skin and bone when I got him, on his chip he’d been re-homed and picked up by dog wardens 3 or 4 times and had even been on “death row” at one point, and yet he’s easily been the best dog I’ve ever known, don’t know how anyone couldn’t want him, just really gutted I took my eye off the ball for a second and it added to his demise.
Yet they forgive people so easily. My condolences, but you gave him all he could possibly want. Well done sir.

Hey mate don’t beat yourself up, he was over 15 which is a great age for a dog.Unfortunately once a disc goes in an old dog they’re not going to recover.
Rescues are just the best dogs, one of mine has had three homes and like yours
was picked up by the dog wardens. He had a few issues once we got him ,but once he
realised he’s in his forever home he’s been brilliant.

Good on you mate, our story’s sound very similar and I’m sure yours is rewarding you as much as Finn did me.

The vets all seemed to think it was a nerve and neurological issue as it was only affecting the left legs, cause could have been anything from a tumour (noticed a couple more lumps, one in his groin and worryingly a small one in his neck) old age degeneration, but maybe brought forward with the fall.

Happy I made the right decision though mate I guess, once I confirmed I thought it was his time the vet said “I’m relieved you’ve said it because I was dreading you were going to take him home on those slim odds”.

Unfortunately Enya lost the fight yesterday absolutely gutted.
Fuckin gutted for you mate as you can imagine if you’ve read my recent posts, I wish I could offer you some words of comfort, but it’s hard to atm, I think we just have to go through the grieving process, and eventually we’ll understand/accept they were loved and were one of the family and we gave them a great life that they probably wouldn’t have had elsewhere.

RIP Enya and sincere condolences mate.

Hardest thing I have ever had to do
