Pictures of your Dog

Two breeds with fairly docile temperaments. Can setters get a bit giddy at times, though?
Giddy? That’s one word for it.
They are active. They run forever. My last dog was a setter but died young. We had a Lab before that and he was what I measure all others with since. He was perfect.
Both were great. No aggression towards people or other dogs.

This guy has a bit of both alright, but he’s everybody’s friend. Can get over exuberant and needs a bit of discipline or calming.

Have known three red setters over the years, all lovely dogs but not one of them was playing with a full deck.
I took our last one from a lady in work who couldn’t cope with him, at a year old.
He was mental but adorable at the same time.
I trained him for off lead in the local park, using a 20 metre lead and a whistle.
One blast - I’m changing direction.
Three blasts- Recall now. No matter what you’re doing.

If I managed it with him, I’ll manage it with this guy. He has a Lab’s appetite, so I bring him out hungry.

There's food motivated and then there's Labradors. Apparently it's exactly the same genetic mutantation that humans who never feel full have!

We have recently rescued an English setter a failed working dog from Serbia . These dogs are abandoned by the hunters if they don’t have the skills to be a working dog and are treated cruelly. So far she’s the sweetest most affectionate and trusting dog . Hasn’t been off lead yet as she loves to pull me after squirrels. She’s also very friendly with other dogs . Very thankful to have her.

Once off the lead they run forever.
You’d never keep up with them.
Try to teach her to the whistle.
That way you can allow a greater distance between you when you have established the trust in response.

Thanks for the tips . She does respond to a whistle just not one directed at her yet another dog owner was using one and she definitely reacted to it . So I will try this out .

Still not perfect, but getting there.
One blast - Go, this way.
Three blasts- Come.
