Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Dialing it down to singular characteristics like 'pace' and 'power' doesn't really capture the problem. Most of the teams we struggled against, got diced by Tothenham. They didn't have much power up front. What they had was a pressure high mentality, and an abundance of technique.

Pace slowa down when technique is lacking, power weakens also. Josy Altidore and Bony are good examples of the latter. What we need is an abundance of technique, and vision. Dribbling technique, ability to take on 2 players thus disorganizing defenses. That's what Boufal or Asensio will bring. Superior dribbling and passing technique from the wide areas. Superior ball control in the middle and clinical finishing up front. The clinical finishing we have in Aguero and DeBryune. The central control we are half way their with Gundogan, if we ad Kroos or Isco or Thiago ( or unbelievably Pogba) our control of the central mid area will be suffocating.

The last thing we need to be adding is another possession breakdown component. And that is what Lukaku is. Benteke is superior technically to Lukaku yet Kloop has wisely gone away from him, because he sees the obvious. Unless you are in a last ditch situation and want to lump the ball forward in the last few minutes. Simply these are not the right players for a technical team.

you do realize that city are the second smallest team in the league and you have used one of the biggest powerful and dirtiest teams as your example with a powerful player Kane upfront
your second point i think big Sam will have an issue with, after years of study he worked out the fastest most economical and productive way of moving the ball is the long diagonal hoof up to the big striker something we have not been able to do since negredo left which was also city playing their best football
possession should break down at the striker it should be an attempt at least but just how much possession do you want against the champs 10 man defense we had 70% and lost
i would love this lad here but he not what we need but the way city account for their player makes it unlikely sterling 5 mill a season de burne 7 mill aguero 7 mill lukaku 8 mill and auba 20 mill

No we're not

Really hope we get this guy. Looks like he could give us a whole new dimension upfront/attacking wise.....and under Pep's tutelage he could be awesome. - Plus another great player for nacho to learn from and someone who can take the pressure off Kun and we can give Kun the occasional rest where needed and hopefully reduce the risk of injuries and keep him fresh...everyones a winner

Excuse my lazy persona; but regarding Aubameyang: anything serious really going on? Is an interest from us confirmed?
