Pitch invasion

I ran on the pitch at Maine Road when we won the 2nd division title in 1966, at Newcastle when we won the league in 1968, and at Maine Road when we won the Cup Winners Cup semi-final in 1970, when I was 15. That's my personal history of 'pitch invasion'.

I never felt the need to climb on the goals or hit or otherwise taunt an opposition player.

Watching thousands of attention seeking idiots yesterday, not least those 'adults' dragging small children around for photos, left me in no doubt that many people in our society simply need to grow up.

The calls for Wembley style barriers at all top level grounds must be near.

Idiots.
We invaded the pitch at Caernarvon in 1969 for the pre-season friendly with a Welsh XI and City brought the FA Cup round. When I say "we" there were about a dozen of us. I touched the FA Cup...

Seeing as 2 arrests have been made can we not assist the investigation by carrying out a witch hunt on the other mindless fuckwits who broke the law?

Surely there are people on here that we can dob in?

It may be ... but then some other cowardly cnuts like Abedi bothers, may well see such and see an opportunity. Players and fans in one blow. Wouldn't put it past them.
I don’t even know why that’s being brought up in relation to the pitch invasion but they wouldn’t get weapons into the ground with the checks now. Any would-be-terrorists would be best placed to do it at full time just outside the ground.

This is a joke, right?
You always get stuff like this when pitch invasions happen. Players getting pushed over, fans acting like dickheads - there's just been a bigger focus on it this week because so many have happened in a short space of time. It's all getting a bit pearl-clutchy. Pitch invasions have always been, and will continue to be, one of the best sights in football. Don't let a couple of dickheads ruin a great tradition. It's also worth bearing in mind that, for all the concerns about violence from fans, players and managers have been seen on camera committing violent acts towards fans - Oli McBurnie has even been arrested this week. So who's more out of control?

It was obvious with whats happened in the last week that our inevitable pitch invasion would create bad press. We didn't exactly cover ourselves in glory though once we started vandalising our own fucking nets. Whoever that was snapping the bar should never step foot in the Etihad again.

Not to mention the dolts who threw the flares on the pitch when we were trying to win the game!! It could have halted the momentum

im defending the pitch invasion. Not assaults or criminal damage.

you’ll be banning thousands of fans/ half of level 1.

So what?

A short ban would teach them a lesson. Actions have consequences. People can't just do what they want in life.

While I may understand a bit of youthful exuberance, it's been very clear from social media etc that large numbers of fans were planning to go on the pitch for ages.

It's just blatant rule breaking by attention seeking idiots for the sake of it. As I say monkey see, monkey do. They probably have little or no respect for others or authority at any level.

As well as being cringy, small time and fucking dangerous, what it has done is detract from our brilliant team, making a brilliant come back. I have friends in Germany, France, USA, South America and Poland. Guess what most media is showing….. yep, a bunch of fucking idiots, smashing goal posts up and a little girl having photographs taken. As well as the alleged assault on a player. in some countries they have rolled the Forrest incident in with us. Who in their right fucking mind thinks our players and club deserve that after the effort and energy they have put in? Sometimes I fucking despair. The social media, look at me, I can do anything and fuck everyone else culture is sickening. That’s without giving every UK media outlet a way to diminish our achievement. Some of those same pricks that were on the pitch and causing mayhem will be on threads whinging about how we are portrayed. It’s like self harming and blaming someone else…..

Ahh probably why you don't like them as you're too high up to get down there.

You asked, I answered That's how it makes me feel. It's called emotion. Actually I did none of that if you reread my post. If you're talking generally then yes the first few on would do so. After that and by the time I went on I walked calmly onto the pitch, through a gate past the stewards. I then did my bit of letting out emotion, breathing in the fresh air and yes smelling the grass, funny you kind of forget watching the game from the stands about the grass until you're stood on it and smell it.

Nothing small time about it, it's called emotion and celebration, too many killjoys in the world and people trying to suck every bit of joy out of life. They won't me, I'm going to do the Poznan, dance on the pitch and smell the grass.
Really glad you were fulfilled doing those things, enjoy the parade later.
