PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

But they are one of the big five dom- we can’t have them being dragged through the shite , there is a level of sympathy towards them for some reason.
wasnt Johnson their chairman who got out not long after premier league was formed ?
might be wrong name but soon saw he'd had his pants pulled down

That's news to me but I wasn't around. I've never been able to find any reference to "The Big 5" before the 80s. I've only seen "The big 5 of the 80s" mentioned in the media up to now.

For me it looks suspiciously like it was only ever PR hype in preparation of the PL(hence the secret meetings in the late 80s). The big sly 3

We were actually One of the original big 5 as it was then named. Swales soon put a stop to that though. City, utd, pool, arse and I think spuds were the other.
I don't think that is correct,

Dips
Everton
Rags
Arse
Spuds

We would have made it 6 if Swales had his way.

@projectriver Sorry if I'm misquoting you here - from memory of your spaces input, you mentioned that the cogency of evidence required from the PL means that proving their case will be an extremely difficult hurdle for them to overcome.

From the publicly available information and your own knowledge of the case based on the CAS findings and your own personal experience in litigation, how confident are you on City's position on this - setting aside a non co-operation charge and talking purely on the most serious allegations? Has anything from your point of view changed since the charges were announced?

No I'm certain mate. Of course all that changed after relegation and a new "big 5" was born early 80's, but the term was first used mid to late 70's and we were definitely in the 5. Why wouldn't we be, we were one of the top teams with one of the highest average attendances.

Unfortunately for me, I have first hand experience of the importance and meaning of cogent evidence. I have just lost a case where we were the claimant trying to prove a case that incorporated this issue. So safe to say the bar is very high. And the PL case theory is, like UEFAs, inherently unlikely and serious for many individuals. The evidence will really have to be very strong (cogent) so (guessing) unless the panel, effectively, say they don’t believe City’s witnesses it’s going to be hard for the PL to win.

Thank you, I envisage myself listening to your spaces input quite a few times over the coming months/years to keep refreshing my memory.

Appreciate the response, it's helpful.

Is it safe to tell Carragher to got f uck himself and concentrate on Loserpool

Some of the UEFA leaks had mistakes in them as well which suggest they didn’t come direct from the horses mouth but a third party ie a club director who heard something from someone close to UEFA. I think Ziegler is using the same source as last time.

Likely deliberate mistakes to give a sensationalist headline. The truth is always the first casualty.

Not sure if posted already

Fuck face Stone with another pile of bollocks… obstructing the UEFA case ? a failure not to cooperate becomes obstruction… then he moves on to his ongoing fixation of Pep leaving. What an utter **** this charlatan is… cancel your TV licence immediately.

Well we'll have to disagree on this one, no bother.

It was all a load of bollocks and meant nowt anyway,

It took the Premier League 4 years to investigate and then ”hurriedly“ bring charges against City but there seems to be an indecent clamour to get it resolved quickly with some insinuating that City are seeking delays. I imagine that it is quite complex so why should the club have to accommodate any requests to expedite this. I want this fucking club cleared of all charges. I don’t want to see a rush to judgement that leaves us exposed

I was listening to the rat Rory Smith on bbc football podcast. Sadly Micah is is not bright enough to pull him up on his false dissemination of information ans the other two can’t be bothered. Would have loved to have been on that show and put that rat in the sewer where he belongs. The way he was spewing false information and narratives was grotesque. BBC hey right to air views unless they don’t want to hear the truth.

Micah endured a bit of ribbing about up & coming City players who could take his share of media work. I did wonder if it’s a nod for him to be careful with his answers.

I do wonder with the amount of this stuff now floating around the media whether we can really have a fair hearing. Members of the tribunal are only human, and they cannot help but be influenced by the clamour to see us nailed by the media and footballing establishment. For the same reason as we have seen refereeing decisions go in favour of the Rags for decades (particularly during the era of the GPC) I have grave doubts about the independence of the tribunal and whether the process will be fair, much more so than CAS which is a properly independent Court. Aren't the refs also appointed by the PL?

I don't blame the club for taking the appeal route at this stage as it would be completely naive to leave anything to chance in the hope of receiving a fair hearing at the "independent" tribunal.

Just watching sky sports news.

Tom Roddy(?) and the fat faced lispy **** Burt casting their views over the charges. Roddy said pep will end up walking because these claims will get on top of him.

And on it goes. This after keown said pep should hang up his boots and give everyone a chance.

This is hilarious the piss boiling going on with these pricks, the whiff of desperation is for all to see.

I reckon pep has been told something by us for him to come out with this statement, that to me tells me we hold the aces here and have got the Premier League in a corner.

And Noel Gallagher hit the nail on the head on talksport when talking about Newcastle. He said yep it's great whilst you aren't winning anything, just wait until you win something, watch the narrative change.

I doubt they will be met with the same hostility as we have even when they do win a trophy or two. One of the main factors is our proximity to the Rags. We're pulling their pants down on their own doorstep and the media can't stand it. That's one of the driving forces in all of this.
