PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

This is (if not already) going to be tedious for the next 3 or 4 years.

Still can’t believe this is the situation we’re in and it couldn’t have been sorted with the PL without it going so far.

I wonder if certain charges potentially drop 1 by 1 in the meantime whilst lawyers look at and discuss evidence. IE a panel will be the end game but with nothing like what's on the table currently?

Just as a side note, I know absolutely nothing about law, about running a football club or a business but are you telling me that Sheikh Mansour, a politician, a multi billionaire, deputy prime minister of The UAE, with a worldwide reputation, a minister of presidential Court will risk everything, his livelihood, his standing in the world to facilitate and oversee us breaking rules and knowingly allow it?

Do you also think khaldoon will risk his own reputation and then lie to Sheikh Mansour and tell him a completely different story to cover up these alleged issues and accusations?

No, me neither, the more I hear these clowns on TV and radio getting giddy telling us about the charges and knowing what I know about our owners and CEO's, I know who I believe.
I know a little about running a business. Number one, got to protect your intellectual property, I’m pretty sure the PL (read United/Liverpool/Arsenal) would be VERY interested in copying us like the Chinese copy US/European tech. So when they asked for EVERYTHING we probably told them to pi$$ off.

I'm sure once we're cleared with the Premier League charges the piss boiling wankers will find something else to go after us for.
I find it laughable that every other teams fans think out of the whole of the league only us are dodgy and cooking the books.

I'm sure when it gets cleared up there will be a huge, huge can of worms opened up.

This. It beggars belief.

The Sheikh and Khaldoon are not freaking stupid, whatever else they may be. I don't think the average tosser out there has a clue about what serious players these guys are. And neither is going to want to go to the Boss Sheikh in the UAE, kaffiyeh in hand, and say: 'Er, sorry, Highness but we have majorly fucked up and caused the ruling family's name to be dragged through the mud and our entire country humiliated in one of our most important partner states. A thousand apologies, but it doesn't look good for our billions of investment in the UK.'

If the PL judge the sponsorship by Etihad Airways as artificially inflated they will be accusing the airline implicitly of an extremely serious financial crime. Are the PL going take on Ethihad Airways in the courts ? Because they would have an excellent case to sue the PL for reputational damage, and that could have very serious financial consequences for the PL
Not really. If a company wants to overpay for a service, the gov don't gaf as long as the chancellor gets his cut.

That sounds plausible. Perhaps one of our more clued up posters can confirm if this is a possibility?

Only way this is sorted sooner is if the club agrees a settlement with the PL

I cant see that happening now though, the club seem confident they can clear their name

would you accept a settlement ? Say a small fine ?
That's the minimum I would say we will get & just like CAS it's enough for these cunts to keep the word cheat stapled on us

That's why I think & hope we totaly clear our name & then stand & deliver more law suits than Donald Trumps $20 wanks

Number 1 is a huge one, with HMRC implictions etc if found guilty
Not really HMRC, as by over reporting income, they'd be increasing their tax liability. However, using over reported income to obtain loans or investment would be seriously illigal, so the investment by silver lake and the Chinese consortium would leave SM liable to prison sentences in te USA and China. But then, as part of those companies dues diligence, the CFG accounts would have been analysed with an electron microscope. Now, according to RAWK, SM actually owns silverlake and, like, China, so that's why the investment occurred

Can someone explain how the 115 charges can be rounded down to 5? and what they are?

Apologies for being in the dark.....Cheers

They are not rounded down to 5.

They fall broadly into 5 categories a bunch are similar enough to be grouped with others.

Basically the theory is if one of the many in a group can be disproven, then all others can be argued the same.

The flipside is if one group is proven, then that's however many charges sticking.

But it is still 115 or however many charges.
