I grew up on that white path, at the side of the cricket club. That's where we knocked about as kids.Played cricket for Newton Heath for 21 years. Great lads great memories.
How rude :-DSnobby southern ****.
Peasant!I did my degree at what's now Manchester Metropolitan University, but was Manchester Poly at the time!
Our club owners have known of the poison from our rival clubs, UEFA, PL nearly since the start of their ownership, and for that reason I think they run a squeaky clean ship. They'd be stupid not to.My main take on all of this is that football has moved on at a huge rate over the last 15 years, the teams with most money were always the ones at the top and it was always going to be the case, however football clubs were mostly run by football people. The rags and a couple of others got a jump on everyone else by becoming more of a business than a conventional club, however at heart they merely had competent business men running them.
All of a sudden we rocked up with a whole new level of business knowledge, our guys had a clear plan that was so far ahead of the curve of other clubs that they have been left trailing in our wake. And of course the only way the other clubs and fans can come to terms with this is that we must have cheated. It is now their comfort blanket that they rely on. In reality I suspect when the hearing takes place we will be proven to have complied with the rules completely. Maybe not in the way that other do but completely legal .
This is a great post and hits the nail on the head for me. I don’t want to second guess the outcome of the investigation but I agree completely with everything else that you’ve posted. Sure, we got lucky with the investment in the first place but everything that has followed has been the result of hard work and employing the right people. And the reality is that those options were pretty much available to any decent sized club that had an owner who was prepared to invest a large sum of money at the outset. It’s not our fault that history is littered with clubs investing big money but investing it badly. There was a danger that that could’ve happened to us in the early days following the takeover but eventually a long-term sustainable plan took shape. My main take on all of this is that football has moved on at a huge rate over the last 15 years, the teams with most money were always the ones at the top and it was always going to be the case, however football clubs were mostly run by football people. There was written proof by way of Arsenal, the Rags & Scousers writing to Scudamore when Sheik Mansour was in his early days. Proof of their motives from years back,Some people believe the hypothesis that the PL brought the charges against City, whilst others think the charges were brought following pressure on the PL from Arsenal, United, Spurs, Liverpool etc. It's there any hard evidence of these clubs extending this pressure? It looked to me as though the trigger was the government proposals on PL regulation.
