No doubt the English press will treat him as a hero but he is guilty of attempted extortion and is facing more charges as the investigation continues.
Luanda Leaks whistleblower Rui Pinto faces fresh charges but may benefit from amnesty reforms timed to coincide with papal visit - ICIJ

This is a great post and hits the nail on the head for me. I don’t want to second guess the outcome of the investigation but I agree completely with everything else that you’ve posted. Sure, we got lucky with the investment in the first place but everything that has followed has been the result of hard work and employing the right people. And the reality is that those options were pretty much available to any decent sized club that had an owner who was prepared to invest a large sum of money at the outset. It’s not our fault that history is littered with clubs investing big money but investing it badly. There was a danger that that could’ve happened to us in the early days following the takeover but eventually a long-term sustainable plan took shape.
Opposition clubs and fans would be better advised to look at adopting some of our ideas instead of wasting their energy trying to bring us down.
Never heard about a Bayern link to Pinto. Pinto was essentially a blackmailer who tried to rip off organisations and football clubs across the world to make money. The Footy Leaks cache was 70 million items and City were just a handful of emails in that cache so were probably collateral damage rather than a target. But there have been suggestions that Der Spiegl may have initially attacked City as some way of making peace with Bayern who had them over a barrel with an unrelated lawsuit. Bayern have certainly been one of the clubs that has launched lots of vicious public attacks against City so you can only imagine what they may have done in private.Hopefully he will get a sentence deserving of his crimes then.
Did we ever manage to confirm that Bayern were behind his crimes ?
you poor people, i would have thought you would have manage to escape the turgid nonsense that is daily mail by being half way around the world but unfortunately it seems to have followed the idiots
Was that on the council estate at the side?I grew up on that white path, at the side of the cricket club. That's where we knocked about as kids.
I support Everton, but I don't think City have done anything wrong. Your post is spot on. You have done it through hard work and the rewards have come, fair play to you for it. Those who cry arse the most are the ones who think they have a divine right to win everything, mainly two teams who play in red. Stuff them! Good luck to your team and I hope the charges are laughed out and leave certain teams to cry arse some more.My main take on all of this is that football has moved on at a huge rate over the last 15 years, the teams with most money were always the ones at the top and it was always going to be the case, however football clubs were mostly run by football people. The rags and a couple of others got a jump on everyone else by becoming more of a business than a conventional club, however at heart they merely had competent business men running them.
All of a sudden we rocked up with a whole new level of business knowledge, our guys had a clear plan that was so far ahead of the curve of other clubs that they have been left trailing in our wake. And of course the only way the other clubs and fans can come to terms with this is that we must have cheated. It is now their comfort blanket that they rely on. In reality I suspect when the hearing takes place we will be proven to have complied with the rules completely. Maybe not in the way that other do but completely legal .
I'm from Newton Heath. Finally escaped 2 years ago. Would be perfect for United know as it's a shit hole. Even the swamp is in better condition than Newton Heath.
