PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The worry for me, much like with UEFA, is that this isn't a fair fight. We clearly identified UEFA's agenda and didn't play ball - hence the fine from CAS as widely reported. What didn't see daylight is CAS' statement regarding their concerns about the leaks from UEFA. CAS have to believe UEFA are impartial as it's a fundamental of any sporting body. But it's so far from the truth. And I worry the PL panel could similarly decide it's happy enough to find guilt without real evidence.
Seemingly they haven’t even picked the panel yet. Perhaps they are struggling to find people who are willing to ruin their personal reputations on such a witch-hunt.

We don't know, we can only infer how long it will take. If you read CAS you can see the level of detail the UEFA lawyers went down to, ie they scrutinised selected transactions over a limited time. The PL charges relate to 10 years of finanancial reporting and the investigation took 4 years to complete.

I posted this "simulated" scenario re Etisalat....

Maybe the PL witchhunt works like this, the PL lawyers scrutinise every single sponsorship financial transaction from all MCFC bank accounts (in chronological order) to drive the case.

So for example, 01/04/11 MCFC received a payment of £15M into the clubs current account. The "PL" believe this was sent by the owner of MCFC as disguised equity funding and was concealed in the annual accounts ie reported as sponsorship funds from Etisalat and therefore is a breach of PL rules. So in defence MCFC provide documentary evidence proving the sponsorship agreement between MCFC and Etisalat, call on executive officers of both parties to corroborate the agreement and provide evidence from the banks of the sender of the funds. So where does the argument go then ?, the PL lawyers have only one option ie to accuse the defence of dishonesty during the hearing. So then the PL lawyers could spend copious amounts of time discussing the integrity and honesty of the witnesses, the sponsors, accountants, auditors and the MCFC legal advisors throughout the ten year period.

WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG ?...
In my previous post above I've outlined a scenario for one transaction. This is the level of resolution the PL lawyers will be compelled to go down to given the nature of the charges. However to do this for every sponsorship and image right transaction (there could be hundreds in a decade) will be highly time consuming. We don't know the structure of the PL case and how the hearing will be conducted, ie will it be purely chronological ? For example, if the Ethihad sponsorship is validated in FY 2012-2013 does it have to be revalidated again for all the remaining FYs, my guess is Yes. This is why it could take to many years and millions of pounds to resolve. My question has never been answered, who is paying the PL legal expenses ? and has the full cost of the entire investigation into MCFC (now 6 years) ever been disclosed in the PL accounts filed at Companies House.

Here's a question. Are our presumably MASSIVE (sic) legal expenses included in FFP calculations? I assume not but I'd also assume they will be in the P&L figures.

I would say that they have caused reputational damage. It's not impacted us financially perhaps, but in a sporting context the success we have had has been caveated by the charges. Instead of just celebrating our success it was "City, who face 115 charges" repeated in every article or on every radio station.

We could just get on with it and not care what rival fans or the media think, but I personally do.
Your choice it will never change. If it wasn’t 115 it would be something else. It’s what footy fans do even City fans.

I think that when we are cleared Khaldoon will go after the red tops and other hangers on and put a dagger through the heart of the super league. This would kill it for good.

No you're quite right. I think if it was simply tribal rivalry and throwing "oil money" and that sort of idiotic thing our way I wouldn't give a shit. But questioning our sporting integrity on the basis of a load of nonsense charges we've already been through and dealt with is a real frustration. Particularly as you have so many "experts" who clearly haven't even read the CAS verdict or managed to look into what these charges relate to. I'm just off to watch the FA Cup and CL final highlights again to get over it.
