PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I see the tabloids are using their “poll results” to say “the fans have spoken” and XX% say the punishment should be points, XX% say it should be relegation, and XX% say it should be stripping of titles, etc, etc, etc… Accordingly, the PL “should” do these things!!

Talk about public hanging before the trial!!!

Since you're from Chicago.. I think you should know there are 2 tiers of justice.. one for average people and one for those in power with connections.

One of the things that crops up a lot on this thread is the fact that the club has a top legal team headed up by Lord Pannick and for quite a few there is an assumption that they will wipe the floor with the PL team. Unfortunately, the PL are spending whatever it takes and @projectriver reckons their legal team is headed up by Adam Lewis KC, as he was for the Everton case. He is at the top of the pile like Pannick and they also use Linklaters, a world class law firm.

Forget any notion (in my view) that we will outspend the PL. They will also have an unlimited amount to throw at this, including effectively some of our money :( It will come down to evidence or lack of rather than one side throwing more at it than the other.
Yep, although remember that once upon a time, one of the then most revered coaches in the world looked at what resources he had to play with, and post-contest, regarded having come second by 20-odd points as one of his greatest achievements…

So Everton having protest this weeks and also flying a plane over another premier league ground this weekend. I wonder which ground that is? Hmmm. Very impressed with how quickly they raised forty grand aswell!

Exactly!

People are tripping over each other to tell the world what City’s punishment for 115 charges should be, esp given Everton actually fessed up to ONE CHARGE, it was peanuts, and yet they got the 10 pt deduction. City, on the other hand, have 115 CHARGES, and bring City (and dirty Arab oil money!! Sheesh!!!) they must be much worse, so the punishment must be considerably greater!!

The logic is eye-wateringly childish and lacking any facts, but who cares?! Let’s run with that narrative!

I see the tabloids are using their “poll results” to say “the fans have spoken” and XX% say the punishment should be points, XX% say it should be relegation, and XX% say it should be stripping of titles, etc, etc, etc… Accordingly, the PL “should” do these things!!

FWIW Everton had more than 1 charge against them, it's just that City are AFAIK the only club to ever have all their individual alleged rule breaches detailed.

It's possible to go through the judgment and work out how many they broke but I asked a few days ago and no one had yet. They way the rules are written it's almost impossible to only breach 1 because they all overlap and they're all under umbrella clauses like the good faith one.

that's not creative accounting , it's illegal
And you know this how?

He was already on a contract over there and City were not paying it. Ergo, he was being paid by someone else AND getting his wages at City.

“People” say this was an FFP dodge to funnel more money into his pockets, and the EFFECT may well have been that, but LEGALLY and EFFECT are two wholly separate and distinct things…even if one grants the premise that Mancini was getting the money BECAUSE he was at City!

Far too many people talking bollocks in the deep end of the pool without their water wings on.

To date, it’s all legalistic conjecture. We’ll see where it falls once all the appeals are completed and if City have to take some medicine in the final analysis, then that’s what they’ll have to do.

BUT, let’s make no mistake, FFP has NOTHING to do with sustainability and EVERYTHING to do with protection of certain clubs.

If anyone thinks Everton’s £19M violation is a big thing, they should look at the debts some clubs carry and who is responsible for paying it off!!

That £19M MIGHT lead to Administration if the 777 investment doesn’t happen. Thst creates a 19 point deduction, relegation, puts the new stadium at even greater risk and only serves to ruin one of the most historic clubs in English football! FOR WHAT???

Meanwhile, across town, Liverpool write off £MILLIONS on a pipe dream of a new stadium that was a scribble on a piece of paper! Them being allowed to write thst off barely squeezed them across the FFP goal line, so nothing to see there, right?!

Or MUFC, who for years have been carrying hundreds of millions in debt that only needs the interest payment to be made to be in compliance, which a debt-free MCFC is under constant threat of being made a pariah of European football???

It’s nonsensical and FFP is a complete misnomer!
