PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

As ever with these things, the supporters are completely overlooked in all of this. The timing, clearly has a huge impact on the club, Pep and the players, but what about our fans?

It's getting in to the business end of the season, with a lot to play for and hopefully City will at the least push Arsenal close and do well in the cup competitions. But with this hanging over us, potentially the outcomes of these games are irrelevant, if we are stripped of titles/docked points/relegated/banned for life etc.

Whether City have done something wrong is one thing, but the fans certainly haven't. But we're just collateral damage that isn't given a second thought. Football is an incredible sport, but the way it is run is a disgrace and has been for a long time.
If we get found guilty, stripped of titles, relegated for dealings going back to 2009 I may get a group together to sue the Premier League for incompetence in letting this issue run.

I would want all my season ticket spend, travel, away day expenses, Wembley visits and European trips refunded, absolute cunts the FA and it's American influenced owners.

I may be in a minority but I also thought City's response was poor. The sarcastic tone was stupid given the situation and will not do us any favours in the long-term. We now have to present our case to an independent panel and the tone we adopt will influence the outcome. A flippant tone is a very bad idea. I would have liked a strong statement which just made it clear that we rejected the allegations and had very strong evidence to disprove them.
Was listening to Kieran Maguire on the radio last night, and he said that City's legal team have rejected every request for information related to these charges. This has been going on for 4 years. Yesterday's announcement seems to be out of pure exasperation, and has to be related to the governments white paper and cracking down on the PL, because they cannot regulate themselves. The fact that they are still talking about breaches that date back to 2009, proves that they are incompetent, because if they knew about this in 2018, why has it taken 4 years to mention it.

This scenario is like the Police banning someone from driving, because they refused to give a breath test. The independent adjudicator is pivotal in all of this, but the legal team have to really pull out all the stops now. They may own up to all the lesser charges but fight tooth and nail against the big ones.

One thing that does give me cause for concern is the faux sponsorship deals that were discovered in the summer. This was a real open goal, especially considering the club were in the midst of an investigation for financial irregularities. If a student from Norway can unearth bogus betting sponsors, then anyone else can, especially if you do that for a living. And recently announcing that City bring in more commercial revenue than Real Madrid and Barcelona. It's almost taunting them to investigate those revenue streams.

Makes you wonder doesn't it?

One thing I noticed in that Independent piece that @Ric linked to several pages back is that City are the only one of the so-called "Big Six" clubs who are in favour of an independent regulator. Make of that what you will!

Yanks don’t want it because they want be able to direct the premier in the direction they want!

On that first point; even though there were different rules at the time, they are still saying our books don’t reflect what they say they do which is against criminal law that all businesses have to abide by, outside of PL FFP rules.

Many of the charges are about in accurate reporting.

If the PL thought City had broken the law they'd be required to have reported it and there'd be an ongoing crminial investigation into the club which would 100% have made it to the press.

They're not alleging any law breaking. They're alleging the club has not satisfied the extra disclosures the PL demands above and beyond what HMRC wants for your accounts.

A so called expert on radio 5 just said how far do teams want this to go with accusations then mentioned about lpool having to pay a 1m fine to city for hacking city
I find the whole not cooperating with the last 5 seasons odd. If for no other reason than we’ve had this cloud over us for much of that time, and if anything you would think our latest (last few seasons) accounts would be absolutely rock-solid?
Probably didn,t trust them to cooperate with them

Cheers, to me it’s beginning to look more and more like a witch hunt with some rather desperate and overreaching charges..

Same here. Over the last 24 hours I've been growing steadily more confident that we'll be OK. People who know their stuff and have no good reason to lie are saying they don't think this will lead to anything serious.

Just annoying that it will take years to sort out.

Looks like the media have declared us guilty and then asked for a jury to be formed. Bunch of absolute cunts. Like the Ku Klux Klan looking to lynch someone.
From now on, there should be no more Media Thread on this site, don’t give any **** any spotlight or clicks. We as a set of fans and as a club should now be ice cold to the media.

Although I said the same with the UEFA charges and their similar ‘guilty before proven innocent’ stance back then and we continued, as a set of fans and as a club, to give the media a shiny big platform and as many links, clicks, promotions, invites, information and hospitality as we ever did before it.

FUCK THE MEDIA! Get rid of that thread off here and City ban the cunts from the Etihad!

I'm surprised we weren't charged by the Premier League for not declaring Yaya's birthday cake.
