PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Is it true that Liverpool's owners were fined $5m by the MLB for the Red Sox cheating?
Is it true that Liverpool used 'new stadium costs' to avoid FFP sanctions?
Have Liverpool's owners ever been investigated by the Premier League?
Is it true that, after 17 years ownership, the owner's of Manchester United have reduced the club's gross debt by only £11m from £603m to £592m and yet have paid themselves £1.1 BILLION in bonuses and 'consultation fees' in the same period?
Have Manchester United's owners ever been investigated by the Premier League?

In a nutshell that is it. It demoralises the whole club from top to bottom no matter how bullish some fans get on here. Pep and the players start thinking, "Why go all out to win if they might take away any titles we do?" Sponsors will be wary and so will players from joining us. Football is so competitive just a tiny drop off is the difference between success and failure. As we lose ground as a result our rivals grow stronger and I'm sure even tighter rules will be brought in to ensure that stays the case.

Of course the opposite could happen and it galvanises the whole club but I think that's unlikely. We cannot allow this to drag on for years as the damage will be almost as great as losing the case.
Potentially true, although I think after a couple of weeks this will fade into the background as team affairs grab our attention again. For all of the media furore over the charges, nobody really knows what sanctions are on the table because nobody really knows the nature of the supposed infractions. People seem to think that because Winter, Ducker, Lee, etc come across as well-educated middle class boys, their chest-beating sensationalism about sending us back to the dark ages carries some weight. It does not. Sponsorships and player transactions will be a good indicator. I think that the club knew this was coming, but the way it was revealed came as a surprise - it was shameful, discourteous and self-centred, in that it looks increasingly obvious that it was done with the government white paper looming.

"We've never seen anything like this before... 100 offences..."
Feels like a strategy.

a) They've never EVER gone after any member club like this before. They didn't even want to investigate Liverpool when they broke rules hacking Manchester City.

b) They have yet to prove anything. Even if this "independent" commission do side with the PL. It can still be challenged in a real court. Though, I'm not sure the courts can stop the PL punishing City(if it gets to that stage) while that battle plays out. Does anyone else know?

I mentioned transfer pricing about a decade ago, when you sell something from a subsuduary to another at a low vlaue to avoid tax in a certain teritory where it may be higher, which is illegal. I said City may do a similar thing with player to avoid FFP.

Mooy is the obvious example. Melbourne pay a few million, transfer to Manchester City for zero, doesn't play but sold for £10m. That is bound to wind other teams up. We made about £10m that year net profit overall.

This is going to be a very odd period for the club. We're going to be playing in the Premier League while effectively at war with them.

It's going to cast even more doubt on referee appointments, VAR decisions, etc.

And if we do overhaul Arsenal, and the Premier League have to crown us Champions, it's all going to feel rather awkward.

It wouldn't be quite so bad if the PL were investigating 3 or 4 clubs, but it seems to be their view that no one else has done anything wrong; all problems lie with City who have committed 100+ offences.

Get what you mean, but I'd erase awkward from your thoughts.

If we do manage to get ahead of Arsenal and win it,for me with all this lot going on now, will become the sweetest one we have ever won, even last season and the Aguero moment.

It will be a great "get fucked" to them all,try and beat us on the pitch you fucking wankers

I think there needs to be terms of reference.

The league just can't ask for anything and expect clubs to comply. It has to be within certain boundaries, we'll probably argue that the requests weren't.

Having said that I think we tried that in court a year or so back over this investigation and we're told that we should co-operate.
You can't expect any organisation to facilitate a legal fishing expedition going back 14 years from another organisation which is unduly influenced by your commercial rivals. CAS drastically reduced our fine for "non-co-operation."

They are looking to ban us in the upcoming transfer windows. This wankers are afraid of City MAKING the EPL a farmer's league. The "LEGACY" CLUBS-Liverpool, Man-United, Arsenal are taking a massive hit on City's success. City gave hope to the underdog teams, now NEWCASTLE has joined in.

We are here to tear down the old tyranny of the LEGACY monopoly and build a new dynasty and they do not want to allow it. This is nothing more than a vendetta to put us back in the box.

It won't be allowed to go quickly, that's the issue.

It's a win-win for the Premier League and the lobbying clubs.

It's a guilty verdict in the first instance, barring City having a strong set of recordings or emails showing this is a witch hunt and irrefutable.

At the very least, they and our rivals know we would appeal until which time we exhaust every avenue up to the High Court.

In the interim, it materially damages us both on and off the pitch. Players we are interested in might look elsewhere, players we have, might demand to move elsewhere.

Commercially, we would be off limits to pretty much everyone but our Abu Dhabi partners.

The timing also conveniently addresses the white paper delay and comes as we still battle for three trophies.

We win something, it is further smeared.

We don't win anything, it has also played its part.

It would be a transfer ban in all but name and clubs such as Chelsea and Arsenal can crack on, while United and Liverpool become more attractive to investors because City's competitiveness is diminished.

Clear and orchestrated, which is why at the very least, it will be medium to short term pain until we clear our name.

We will lose the battle but win the war. Perhaps our rivals are more than comfortable with that.

I hope City aren’t briefing they expect to lose at the first instance already. The scale of the charges levelled against City, that our accounts were dishonest, would mean that a guilty verdict (as such) would mean relegation but subject to appeal. If we lose at the first instance we lose the war, any successful appeal thereafter are only minimising losses.

If what you’ve posted is true about short to medium term pain the PL have won already. They will have neutralised Pep in his final 2 seasons. An effective transfer ban while our team badly needs reinforcements. A ban while several players are pushing to leave or out of contract will leave us struggling for top 4. It will mean Peps final 2 seasons will be played out with a squad padded by youth team players or short term signing. The damage will already have been done regardless of any verdict.
