PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

It's a power play by the Premier League, pressured in to keeping the investigation open despite the CAS verdict by the usual suspects.

The majority of the rest will come along for the ride, so long as it doesn't impact their own finances.

If taking out City is also part of the equation, then they are cool about that.

It's self-preservation. No difference to the mafia killing one of their own, despite attending weddings of family, they won't think twice.

The government will back off if the Premier League are seen to be so righteous as to kill the Champions of England.
Another thought is what would be the impact to the UK government and locally Manchester if Abu Dhabi pulled out of all investments and loans etc, due to the treatment of them as City owners

I think its hard not to see it way and if so who pressured them.

I doubt the Premier League will come out of this well no matter how its determined , they always reap what they sow albeit some of the stakeholders as you say will tow the party line.

Not sure I buy this independent regulator argument.

The regulator covers many topics, and the PL charging us doesn't cover any of them, apart from financial sustainability. Even that I am not sure about.

The UAE will have more impact on yes or no to a financial regulator than the PL taking some random action after 20 years of inaction on the WP issues .... All imho, of course.

Why do we need this to go to court?

If we have done nothing wrong it should be a fairly quick and easy case to conclude in our favor.
They're out to stiff us regardless of guilt. Because the Premier League are judge, jury & executioner presiding over the case, they believe they're untouchable & whatever they decide, City will just have to suck it up.

It's like we're Blackadder, the PL are General Melchett & FFP is Speckled Jim! :-/

We don't know who voted which way, we only know that all 3 were deemed to be fair and impartial.

The point is not that City had a man on the board, it's that at this level people are grown up enough to know everyone's going to have tangential connections somewhere in a small industry and it doesn't get in the way of doing their jobs fairly.

True, but how do you think everyone outside of City would react if the panel was led by City season ticket holders?

The same government which is relying on £50bn in investments from the UAE?

As usual its the fans that will suffer if things don't work out

Players and coaches can move on, owners and shareholders can sell up.... But it's the fans who 100% have done absolutely nothing wrong and who are far more emotionally invested than those mentioned that will have to live with the consequences
