It's a shame we're not owned by a state or we could start taking people out (hint, hint).
I'm about halfway through listening and this is exactly what I'm taking away thus far. Let's be clear - what the PL are alleging is conspiracy to commit fraud. I wholly support the view that the PL has no idea what it is getting itself into by making these very serious and damaging allegations. They have essentially elevated the burden of proof to a significantly higher level than would otherwise be required, and this can simply not be dealt with by an independent panel of their choosing. This is criminality that is being alleged and I don't think they grasp it. If they did, they'd have notified HMRC compliance units immediately. When taken with the fact that they botched the initial release of the charges against us, I am actually more confident than I was before - this investigation is being led by under-qualified people which reflects in their procedural sloppiness and inability to grasp the magnitude of their own allegations.I think the Twitter spaces chat was really helpful. It's bigger than I thought, so when people are saying relegation is a realistic outcome if found guilty they really mean that. The good news is the league realistically has to prove that we have knowingly and deliberately cooked the books at every level of the organization, that multiple parties have covered and lied about it, and than auditors and independent regulators of multiple companies have either been misled or failed to spot this. It's a huge set of claims that will need to be established, to the extent that even Stefan isn't sure that the premier league fully appreciate what they've set themselves up for. But if they can realistically demonstrate that this has been happening every season, year after year, then it's not a slap on the wrist.
I hope you are right mate, but unless there is some type of deal stuck or a major backing down by the FA, then this could drag on for years!I suppose. Hopefully it’s done and dusted in 4 months and we’re all happy with the outcome.
I'm no expert but reading the educated people's comments on here it seems we will get a fine/ sanctions and we will appeal to the courts with a top legal team that will give us the best hope of fuckin these charges off for the right reasonsI suppose. Hopefully it’s done and dusted in 4 months and we’re all happy with the outcome.
