PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

No idea - feels like swings and roundabouts to me. There has to be a panel, they are likely all going to be KCs and they are likely all going to have all sorts of biases (political, football, economic). That's life. Obviously all different if evidence of actual bias (very unlikely).
Will the process be delayed by City making appeals that question the legitimacy of the process and the KCs suitability? In your opinion do you have any idea of the timescales involved ?

Someone was telling me the other day that we picked 2 out of the 3 judges in the case at CAS. I can't find anything out online about how they were selected is this true?

The problem for City and us fans is that the narrative to our opponents is gospel, we're dammed if we win the case and dammed if we don't, it's in their back pocket everytime we do something brilliant or win another trophy. To them in their eyes we will be forever cheats even though deep down they know we haven't done anything more than have the temerity to challenge and beat the established elite. The red tops.
I'm not really bothered by the vitriol from rival fans.
The cheat narrative is being pushed mainly by United, Liverpool and Arsenal fans.
They will never accept any outcome that exonerates City regardless of the evidence.
So it's pretty clear they don't want a fair trial but they own version of justice.
They want City out from the landscape.
Time will tell whether they would succeed or not.

This is my first post. I have supported City since the late 1970s and have been a season ticket/card holder since 1995 when we moved close enough to Manchester to make the journeys. I have read the forums for many years now and have learned more about issues such as this from threads like this than any other source. I have no great insight on this and do not have access to any privileged information or legal skills. But it’s nice to share thought with fellow blues. Like everyone else on here I have been disgusted with the coverage of the charges and find the concerted efforts of the red-top teams to bring us down appalling. I have tried arguing our case on social media and tried to inform fans of the usual suspects what is actually going on. But as many have pointed out on here it’s virtually impossible to get over the uninformed rants which usually contain the words ‘cheat’, ‘oil money’, ‘state-owned’ etc – you all know the narrative. I’m torn between trying to tell as many people as I can about the injustices we have suffered from the avaricious behaviour of the red-top clubs and just giving it up as whatever you say they come back with the same misguided nonsense.

We all tend to think our own are the best. But one thing I am absolutely convinced about is the integrity of the owners and the excellent management team they have installed right through the club. I used to teach in a university Management School and it always seemed a huge irony that if you were looking for an organisation that had great vision and achieved such great success in its corporate strategy as a case study – MCFC would be a magnificent example. Yet the ‘football authorities’ are trying to crush us and reward inefficient competitors who come nowhere near our standards of excellence. Problem is how you do you convince people that is true? I often tell myself to just forget the background noise and just concentrate on the magnificent football we have been luck enough to witness over recent years. But it’s not good pretending that I am not hurt by the constant jibes and untruths which are thrown our way. The other thing I am certain of is the resilience of our fans. I will always remember the first game in the third division (or whatever it was called then). Full to the rafters at Maine Road and we prevailed – like we will against this corrupt campaign to smear us. We have strong and capable management, owners with vision, an innovative coach who has changed the face of English football and we have fans who will fight and never give up. Apologies if much of my post is just emotional and lacks any facts of substance – we all know what I’m trying to say – but I think it’s still worth saying.
Seriously you should write more often. A very well balanced article. Welcome to the fold.

Nonsense. Another nonsense trope. The process was the normal process and is set out in the CAS judgment.

It’s false. We selected one and UEFA selected one. The other wasn’t chosen by us or UEFA.
Not quite. We each chose one then had to agree on the panel chair.

That pool of arbitrators is a relatively small group of qualified people so we can't just decide that someone who's not on that panel can represent us. The story is that we suggested a name and UEFA agreed with that choice of chair. Had we not agreed, CAS would have selected someone. So it was a joint choice.

What is really annoying about that story is that snivelling snake Conn was the one putting it out there. The man who campaigns for justice, truth and transparency told a blatant fucking lie.

Are you worried about the outcome and potential punishments?

I can overthink things at times, so I’ll half be worrying about it in the back of my mind in Istanbul when I should be totally enjoying myself.

Based on a few things you and @projectriver have said, I’m not thinking about relegation just because I think it would be hard for them to prove the Sheikh inflating sponsorships etc, but I do feel they’ll try and undermine our achievements as best they can.

I believe that we chose one and Uefa chose one, there was then a process where both us and Uefa agreed on the 3rd judge.

My understanding is that we suggested the 3rd person. Uefa did not offer a name for the Chair role and did not oppose our suggested name.

I think we chose one, as did UEFA.
We then suggested the third as he was familiar with the case, and UEFA agreed.
We did not 'choose' two.

I want a full defamation charge against all these journos and they need to serve prison time.

luckily AI is soon to be taking over many jobs like these puff pieces from these so called journos. a very limited AI can be programmed to spit out worthless articles like the whatsapp group doing under "working"and bloody hell it will be lot cheaper than to pay lots of money to these nobodies.

It makes me laugh when fans of other clubs go about this. Just ask them this.

Have City had a plan to bring in the best structure to succeed? Yes
Have City hired top people in their field of expertise? Yes.
Have City had a plan to develop the best possible youth system? Yes.
Have City had a long term plan for excellent recruitment ? Yes
Have City had a long term plan and vision of how the club would develop? Yes
Have City bought wisely in the transfer market? Yes
Have City developed a fantastic scouting network to identify young talent? Yes.
Have City excellent at getting getting good fees when selling players? Yes.

But for some reason they think we have a bunch of chancers and criminals running our finances.

I trust the club 100% that they have done everything within the rules, what I believe is that we have done what every successful business does and sails close to the limits of the rules, and used modern day accounting and processes in a world where the Premier league still live in the past. They won't like it but we will come out on top.

There is no court (or even arbitration) route to go down for a dispute like this. This would simply be a defence at the independent panel.

Something wrong with Zeigler article. Much of it (obviously briefed by someone) doesn't make much logical sense. I'd be cautious reading too much into it.

Surely you can go to court, over the legality of a case against you, in any scenario. Which is what that article claimed, that it was a legal challenge. The court may of course rule that the case is entirely legal and you are back where started.

Most people believe what they want to believe , what they would like to be true - me included. For a lot of the more rabid rag and dipper fans we will have cheated irrespective of any outcome in any legal forum.

Personally am not interested in any recognition from any united , liverpool or any other fans. Its about me, other blues , our club and the best football I have ever seen with silverware ,glory and beer on the way. My only regret in my dealings with them is I don't get to tell enough of them to fuck off.

Excellent and succinct list. If only they would engage in a discussion of those points we would get somewhere. But they choose to cry like babies and make untrue and illogical statements. Our day will come!
