PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I'd go with the toast
Went with the beef tartare in the end as I'd never had it before.

When it turned up it was basically a big lump of raw mincemeat with an egg yolk on top.

I said to the barmaid that it will look good when it's cooked but don't think she understood.

Still it went down the hatch OK. Thank fck for Polish vodka...

Used to love Subbuteo as a kid with my brother. Every September a new league of roughly 12 teams which never included the Rags.
My all conquering City side (I’m older than my brother). Frank Carrodus got a brace once as a sub.
Good job I’m too old now. My subbuteo City team under threat of expulsion or a points deduction !!!!
I got my first Subbuteo set in the late 50s. It came without a pitch and advised you to mark out and old blanket. I used the sheet from my bed and marked it out with crayon.
To say my mother was not best pleased would be something of an understatement and so I got "the glove"

NB: My father was an ex amateur boxer and for some reason had just one glove, mother would often don said glove and give me or my brother a good slap.

I ate penguin once in South Africa

...not unlike a Club Milk.
i just ate half of the most wonderful spanish omelette.
6eggs, red onion, orange pepper, sweet potato + blue cheese.
it took an hour to make and 5mins to eat.

it was my first meal of the deal
(wine doesn't count)
so a 5pm breakfast.

i do think eggs,
although nothing more than a hen's period,
are lovely.

of all the ways to cook them, omelette is my favourite.

i often wonder though,
why a boiled egg seems to go further than a fried one.

Just because I have not done this yet …

Did dad go on to star in The Fugitive?

Why is jam made with oranges called marmalade and not orange jam?
The distinction between jam and marmalade lies in the production process:
Jam is made by boiling fruit pulp with sugar, creating a smooth or chunky spread. Marmalade refers to a citrus preserve that includes the peel, giving it a distinctive texture and slightly bitter flavour. Also, the word derives from the word "marmelo" a type of quinze fruit. Thus, orange jam would imply a smooth, peel-free preserve, while marmalade keeps its historical name and characteristic preparation method.

That para refers to this from FTT

50. Paragraph 4.1 of the Terms and Conditions for the 2013 Contract (substantially replicated as paragraph 4.1(a) of the Terms and Conditions for the 2015 Contract) which provides that, "the Services will be rendered to the best of the Company's and the Personnel's abilities and all directions and requests given by BSkyB or its nominees will be complied with." We do not accept Mr Firth's submission that this is to be construed as meaning that Sky is unable to require Mr Thompson to express opinions which he did not believe or otherwise to control what he says or to restrict his opinions. This paragraph is unambiguous and does not make any reference to Mr Thompson's opinions. As such, there is no room for Mr Firth's construction.

Then on Control the FTT concluded (I quoted (5) earlier): View attachment 150333

I've not read in detail but it is only theoretical that Sky could direct Thompson or anyone so HMRC succeeded on that point notwithstanding the reality. Para 51 says "Similarly, given the emphasis on reasonableness elsewhere in the Contract and as part of the factual matrix as a whole, we find that it is so obvious to go without saying that the parties did not intend that Sky be entitled to make or give unreasonable directions and requests. It might well be, therefore, that in practice Mr Thompson would not be obliged to express opinions which he did not believe or otherwise to control what he says or to restrict his opinions. However, this is a feature of such a direction or request being unreasonable and in breach of the implied term rather than being the proper construction of paragraph 4.1 (or paragraph 4.1(a)) itself."

By the way, here is a good example of the chaos that will ensue after the decision is published from people claiming it says one thing and others claiming it says something different - and nobody will know for sure. It is possible to have 2 valid interpretations.
