I lived in Wythenshawe and going to Nortehnden or Altrincham at that time was going up market, for us anyway.Yes, I guessed it was that one. I remember it on Royal Green Road, but I never went in there. My dad used it.
My locals were Farmers Arms on Longley Lane, Tatton Arms on Mill lane, now demolished, and The Royal Thorn on Altrincham Road, now demolished.
I’ll have to give that a read. I’ve read a few Dicken’s books but never attempted Bleak HouseBrilliant book.

Anyone here go to the Hospital club in Wythenshwe? It was like the only place that stopped open after pubs closed.
I drank in Northenden a lot in the late 80s but my main pub was the Yew Tree in Northern Moor. My mum lived on Colshaw Rd near the Red RoseCertainly do mate, used to make our way there after the Redrose/ Blackboy shut
my understanding is that they voted for it at the last League meeting, but it was for everyone in the league not just us and Chelsea.thought the window opens 2 weeks later
It's a slog, but quite rewarding. I found David Copperfield more difficult tbhI’ll have to give that a read. I’ve read a few Dicken’s books but never attempted Bleak House
I thought it was but wasn't sure. We called you barely bug house and you called us the cow shed.Northenden primary was Bazeley Road, just off Lingard Road. I started there in 1952. Head teacher Miss D.N. Hampshire. Teachers of note: Mrs Freeman, Mrs Sykes, Mr. Haddock.
I believe it is now a community school.
My memory is available for hire.
My grandad went in there every day after he retired. It's been a while since I drove that so no idea if it's still there or not.Whatever happened to the Carters Arms, I used to go there but I thought it had gone last time I went past.

Large swathes of Northenden were subject to restrictive covenants. There were no pubs on Palatine road or to the west of it, creating a large dry housing estate.
So have a break, have a kitkatGood.
It's not been a picnic reading these chocolate based puns....
