PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

It’s highly likely that the CL places won’t be settled for a while yet so I somehow doubt that Cities final position will be a factor however I do wonder if the IC is mindful of the season end date if, and of course it’s an if, they are looking at allegations being proven knowing that any sporting sanction handed out while the season is still in process would lead to chaos.
The challenges and potential ramifications would complicate matters probably beyond comprehension

Of course the counter is that the ICs deliberations are incredibly complex and the delay is simply down to that !
The IC won't give a rats arse what the date is, it'll be done when it's done.

Of course there is (a chance we will be found entirely innocent), there's also the possibility that we'll be found guilty on all of them.
Hmmmm. I'm not sure I agree. Do you not think had we been found entirely innocent, then it would have been announced already? I cannot think of any credible reason why it would not have been.

So my guess - and it is a guess - is that we've been found to have breached some rules to some degree and the two sides are horse-trading over what level of punishment each side will find acceptable.

One might wonder if we have been found somewhat guilty, how can there be any horse-trading. But the reality is, as the dominant force in English football for the past 10 years, we hold a lot of cards. We could kick up a right old stink if we wanted to, and do immeasurable damage to the PL brand... and revenues.

No :) And I can.

Again, I will say the APT award was 90 pages and it took three months. We are expecting hundreds of pages on this one. It will take a long time.

The panel has to document the evidence on both sides and their reasoning even if it is all a pretty clear determination one way or the other.

It suited the PL to issue the 115 plus allegations together so they either anticipated their own congestion or they didn't.
I suppose originally when they appeared to have control of the Appeal process this could have been dealt with speedily. City of course changed the PLs perspective RE composition of Appeal Panel members so UK law suddenly governed the need for KCs on the Panel.

Guidance from the red cartel no doubt allows the PL to tie itself in knots.

Tbh, not sure the standard of proof is vague and not sure non-cooperation is difficult to define, either .....
Certainly more 'in the eye of the beholder' than the accusations of fraud on a vast scale though.
I think they'll pin some shit like this on us so the PL can retain some credibility and spin it in the media as a 'win'. Also a handy get out of jail card for the pundits and other gobshites that have loudly been calling us guilty.
Probably like uefa, won't survive an appeal, but by that time the shit has stuck.

I do wonder how in any circumstances it could be applied to this season if announced at the end as the sanctions hearing would follow and also appeals

First off it’s all very complex regardless.

I also think an entirely innocent or innocent bar no cooperation carries extra issues. That will have to be explained

Did the premier league unfairly treat us ? Why did we not co operate ? Was there pressure or a conspiracy ? Should they have dropped the case after CAS ? The premier league might want a sporting sanction for non co operation or at least Liverpool etc will that doesn’t seem fair or possible they will have to explain this

The panel won't be playing politics. They will judge based solely on the law, imho.

Doesn't mean they won't accept the allegations, of course. Just that, if they do, they will have considered the allegations proved under the rules.

Hope so. I'm sure legal representation on both sides will be professional, but I'm not sure the PL wouldn't just come up with a bunch of cunts for the panel.

Not what I said? It was posted in reply to a question that nobody on here could really answer besides guesses. I'm firmly of the belief that neither side know the outcome yet.

This is my full post, the 2nd sentence is what I think will happen with the majority of the decisions in our favour but that is purely my best guess.

Reality will be somewhere in-between however.

To be fair the panels that they have come up with have been independent up to now, see the APT case. I doubt it would have been any different for 130 case.

Yes, fair enough. I'm sure the panel would've consisted of the GPC, tebas and David Gill if the pl could get away with it.
