Fully understandable, but I hope they told him this before the transfer window shut.
He can help the Champions League squad by providing rotation for some of the players in it, in the Prem, when the squad gets stretched, but only if he's playing at 100%.

Comes as no shock to me.Lets be honest a couple of years ago and we`d have been asking our manager to see a shrink,at the very thought of leaving Yaya out of a squad.
Unfortunately gone are the days where he dominated in midfield,the odd game in the PL but certainly not nowadays in the CL.Fernando for all his faults is a grafter,so maybe he`s seen as the better option and I don`t mean as a straight replacement for Yaya,but Pep will juggle about with this midfield.
I would think we may see the last of Yaya come January.
Maybe as Baldrick would say "I have a cunning plan,M`Lud".
