PL & CL Squads (updated: Toure omitted from CL squad)

Sterling and Sane can do everything Navas can do and more.

No one can do what YaYa can often produce.

For me, he should be in over Navas. Navas is currently the more reliable player but I can't think of a role he could play, an attribute he can offer that others can't.
YaYa on the other hand can change a game in a moment. Even now.

Question is? Can we take the risk? Navas is risk free,
Toure may be a liability or have that one spark to win us any game.

I suspect Pep will take the safe/reliable option for the group stages.

I agree with this. I really don't know why Navas is still here, I expect he will leave in January when the real Jesus arrives! He can only play right wing and he's clearly 4th choice there after Sterling, Sané and De Bruyne. It's pretty unrealistic that he's going to start any games.

Whereas Yaya could realistically play centre back in an emergency, as the pivot, as one of the two number 8s, as a number 10, or even as "False 9" if needed. He clearly wouldn't be first choice in any of those positions, but his versatility makes him a pretty useful member of the squad if he can get his fitness and motivation right.

I fully expect Yaya to be left out, but I'm not sure it's the right decision.

Yaya will be left out.Personally I would leave Navas out.
A winger that cannot cross and scores a couple a season is a major weakness.

I think that's the point. Pep has seen him work hard against an uninspired Bucharest. But he was already suffering, in such a game.
Pep quite certainly won't field him vs Barca or BMG, just maybe vs Celtic.

Navas is limited in a way but his intensity is still top.

I also expect Yaya to be left out. Still okay for him to share some workload against low-mid PL sides.

City has to announce the squad list until 11pm. Should be on uefa.com tomorrow.

Can't be Yaya. 15 minutes left and a goal needed he's the only one even remotely likely to come up with the goods. Navas can do a job supporting the full back (he could probably drop in there at a push) so, for me at least, it has to be Fernando.
Assuming we play the team we've largely done so far that'd still leave Sane, Iheanacho and one of Silva/KDB/Ferna maybe even nolito on the bench to come on.

If we're keeping Yaya around to use in absolute desperation I wouldn't bother.

Realistically its poor and undeserved that a player has to be left out. Can't we just get the number right.
