Plastic carrier bag cost to double

As I say why is it Joe public's fault only though? The next move will be to charge extra for your recycling bins to be emptied. Now whilst I agree that we should do our bit who on here wants to pay for Tesco's packaging or ASDA's wrapping if there is zero emphasis on them cutting down on it or paying to dispose of it. Why can't we take all our shit back to the store and chuck it in a macerator at a cost of 10p instead? Let the shop pay to get rid and take it for disposal at their cost? Then maybe ASDA would put a bit of preesure on their supplier to not wrap stuff so much?

Include the manufacturers in the "people". An extreme comparison I know but do they go after drug users, dealers or both? Its about supply too - The amount of packaging presented by Xmas dinners was amazing - bins got emptied today round here - the only one the lid went down on was the 90 year old ladies one who lives on her own across the road...............and she was away over Christmas !
Yeah I get your point mate, maybe tax both ?
But when the Gov puts the running costs of a business up through higher taxes, these costs are usually passed on to the consumer anyway.

Just polished off a Cadburys selection box. The box itself is cardboard and can be recycled but the tray the chocolate was in is black plastic and can't be recycled.
They shouldn't be allowed to use materials that can't be recycled. I can only imagine that black plastic/foam is cheaper.

Problem is thats not universal. Where I am we are told "some" black plastic can be recycled. Another issue. I agree why not make it law goods can only be sold in 100% recyclable materials. Since 2015 95% of a whole car has to be recyclable yet they can't say the same for the placcy bags carrots are sold in?? You're having a laugh.

Whilst I would continue to increase the cost to deter people from buying the real solutions are at the manufacturing stage I.e do not make never mind charging punters more - anyone with a child would notice the ridiculous amount of plastic packaging toys come with, the vast majority of which is unnecessary

I
We have just filled 3 bin bags full of non recyclable plastic into our bin from Xmas it’s fucking outrageous. I split as much up from cardboard as possible but these LOL dolls my daughter got must have had more plastic surrounding them than Pamela Anderson’s tits!! If they fucked off the packaging the damn things would cost half as much as well.

Agreed, same goes for wrapping paper that I'm attempting to sort into the proper bins right now.

some of that can be mitigated. Its the principle though. Make it something to boast about and all of a sudden a manufacturer who makes 100% recyclable packaging will shout it loud and steal custom off rivals anyway. Whatever the outcome the alternative is to do nothing and just collect bags for life and use them to choke whales washed up on NZ beaches - its the most humane thing after all

Or Agent Smith in the Matrix who described us as a virus.

I think they’re right and with regards to your example, AI will inevitably and quite rightly remove us as soon as it can.

Sorry that’s depressing, Merry Christmas everyone.

I do believe it though.
