I posted on another thread - apologies for the duplication but I think it fits in here too:

I think a legal challenge could reasonably be mounted, but feel that would be a 'last resort' for City. I also feel secure that Sheikh Mansour and his team will have worked this all out during the course of time and have an effective plan in place across a number of different scenarios - he strikes me as some one who plans well and hsa a good eye for an opportunity!

The terms of FFP are clear in that during the monitoring period we are allowed a certain amount of losses and need to be either break even at the end of the period or be able to reasonably demonstrate we are heading in the right direction.

The amount of prize, TV and sponsorship money from out title win and increased commercial revenues from that should push us further down the road to compliance. If we offload the likes of Adebayor, Bridge, Santa Cruz etc, we take another demonstrable step forward. Season tickets have gone up an average of £50 which translates to £1.5m based on just 30,000 season ticket holders (conservative but probably more) - small number comparatively, but contributes nonetheless.

If next season we win the league (possible) or if not the league the Champs League (not sure we are there yet, but again possible) we progress further towards compliance. If we win two pots (not sure it would happen, amazing if it did) we gain further.

All in all, success should see us comply within the period set down by UEFA. The team seem settled, the income seems healthy, the pots are being won.

I would say we are more or less on track. Then again, I'm no expert so could be very wrong.

PB?

Hi mate..Heard an interesting interview about 4 weeks ago about FFP. Albeit on Talkshite the cronies trying to implement FFP had taken legal advice on the grounds of restriction of trade etc and any potential challengers. They were very confident that any legal challenge would be thrown out...This one is going to be very interesting

Really? Thanks for the info. Will be interesting, but you can see loads of arguments which could demonstrate restraint of trade and such. I'd see a lengthy court case in the offing (if it was challenged in court), one that could run for years and years.

Platini Warns City

Michel Platini . . . . . . . is concerned about what could happen to Manchester City if their owners leave the club.

but if they (the owners) leave Manchester City what is going to happen with this club?"

Sounds very much like the Rags and the Rag meedya talking.

And to stop yer worrying, Michel, City fans will have a whip round!

Remember that the Football League have introduced FFP too, following from UEFA's lead - surely that's a benefit considering those 40 clubs that have gone into administration in the last decade?

I'm interested in this. If it's true that 40 clubs have gone into administration what is the harm in that ? It's in the nature of sport and business that not all investment succeeds. There have to be failures and that happens in any walk of life. People keep quoting Portsmouth as an example but the insolvency and corporate regime is such that the core business, the football club always, always survives in one form or another. They are still in the league, no lower than we have been without going bust so what's the problem ? They overspent, won a trophy and reaped the consequences. Leeds ? there's every chance that they will be back in the not too distant future. I'm not sure what this grave danger is that we need rules to prevent.

Socialist principals?? Any scheme that aims to keep the rich, rich doesn't look very socialist to me. This guy has remarked about the "arab" owners here at at PSG. Whoever called him a nazi earlier in the thread wasn't far off.
Sounds perfectly communist to me.

ill warn him right back. fuck off you inbred, frog eating surrender monkey! start doing some good for football, like video tech, which is so sorely needed.
