Player abuse following Euro 2020

Just see it as a joining fee to allow people to voice their opinions that you eventually get back (with interest if they wanted to do that). Remember, in the old days to voice our opinions publicly it was the cost of the stamp to a newspaper each time, so what's £100, 150 opinions? Good value if you ask me, especially if when you've nothing else to say you get a full refund.
Ive been on Bluemoon 10 years now.
If i gave £100 10 years ago I would have written it off by now and I could abuse who I wanted.
I like the fact you want to sort it out : if I thought it would then I would be in total agreement with you.

The Sun's front page today:

Which is fucking hilarious when you consider some of their other front pages, where they've played an active role in attempting to tear apart young black footballers:

And something to really warm the heart and give you hope that they're are a lot of decent people in this country. Rashford's mural in Withington full of messages of support after racial graffiti was put on the mural.

They're obviously hypocrites but at least they're doing the right thing now.

So I've splintered this thread from the last one. Things pretty quickly became a general racism discussion and whilst the two topics are obviously linked I think there needs to be more discussion about the specific matter of online player abuse via social media on top of the wider issues discussed in the other thread.

The booing of the national anthems was a disgrace as well. Just fucking embarrassing, really made us look like a bunch of immature feral knobheads.
Been happening for many years, the booing of GSTQ at Hampden was/is the worst and on the other side of the coin, the respect of the NI fans at Windsor Park, simply the best.

Saka,Rashford and Sancho came in cold, the penalties they took were poor but the abuse they get for it is almost as if they meant to miss them. What sort of an arsehole racially abuses someone for missing a bloody spotkick?

Social media is a toilet it wants flushing IMO.

They can be traced and prosecuted but it would take huge resources and cooperation from overseas authorities.

A Singaporean man has been handed a nine-month probation order for sending death threats to Premier League footballer Neal Maupay.
Derek Ng De Ren, 19, sent the messages after Maupay's team Brighton & Hove Albion beat Arsenal last June.
He was arrested earlier this year after the messages were traced back to Singapore by the Premier League.
The sentencing ends a year of collaboration between UK football authorities and Singapore's police.

More than half of all abuse aimed at footballers in the United Kingdom comes from overseas, according to estimates.

What I don’t get is why the Twitter, Instagram, FB can’t just ban certain words from their platforms. Sony do it on the PS messaging and if you use derogatory language you get an automatic one week ban, followed by a total ban if you reuse.

Re social media - Nedum Onuoha and David James were on the BBC this morning.

James suggested that the social media could have a two-tier plan - first tier with proper ID provision, second tier without it. If first tier post racist stuff, they can be identified easily, and you could block the second tier if you wanted.

Would reduce the followers notably, and is probably too simplistic in that form, but it doesn't sound like a bad starting point at first sight.
