Player thread: Aleksandar Kolarov (2014/15)

You have to get Kolorov into the positions that allow him to whip the ball in across the six yard area, when we do that he looks great, when we don't he looks shit. So many times we deliver the ball to him on the half way line and everybody moves from the wing inside then he's completely fucked because he can only use his left foot so he has to pass the ball back and inside.
Unfortunately his crossing is really the only part of his game that is effective for the team because defensively he's poor, he's a big unit but doesn't seem to relish the physicality of the Premiership. He rarely wins the ball in the air, lacks pace and appears to lack the desire to get back and recover situations when he's out of position. He also generally looks like he can't be arsed when things aren't going his way which, if is the case, is unforgivable.
I'd be looking to move him out at the end of the season and give Clichy more game time if there is an EDS lad capable of coming into the first team squad as back up. If not then a quality, long term replacement needs to be found.

Angelino is as good with his left foot as Kolarov imo, & more intelligent & skillful as a footballer, but is small & I would worry about him defensively. But then again I worry about Kolarov defensively.

See how Angelino looks in six months I suppose. Maybe it's too soon for him & he will end up as Clichy's replacement further in the future, if he makes it. But we'll see.

Yesterday when Milner lost the ball and Kola was behind .He didn't give a jack shit to stop the Boro player instead stood still like a fucking cone .That attitude really pissed me.
Milner inexplicably falls over and leaves Kolarov in a precarious position having to stop the attacker with no support.

He's not having his best season but to be honest he's not doing much worse than Zaba / Kompany / Mangala. Demichelis is almost our only defender you can trust not to lurch from one calamity to another.

Clichy has 3 assists in 1518 mins, Zaba 3 in 1416 and Aleks 2 in only 586 minutes. Him and Clichy make 0.9 key passes per game, Zaba makes 1. But he supplies 1.4 crosses as opposed to their 0.2 and 0.3.

You can pretty much see as an offensive full back he's doing as well as the others.

Another scapegoat because he doesn't charge into tackles he can't win.

No one has ever doubted his ability to cross a ball, it's his complete refusal to do any defending that people object to. He's never in position and then compounds that by never showing any desire to actual get back into position. He's not a scapegoat, he's just a poor defender.

We have to keep him motivated and hope he regains some of last seasons form for the rest of the season. In his current form we would find it very difficult in finding a buyer come the summer.

His form has severely dipped, he's useless if he can't provide any width or produce good crosses for us. Defensively he's all over the place.

He doesn't help himself though because he cuts infield too often and he doesn't put the ball in first time, rather try and take someone on with the famous chop skill.

In his defence we hardly pack the box up with numbers to support him and give him a target, Bony may provide that. I'd move him on in the summer and bring a younger lad in.

He'll have been with us for 5 years this summer, flown by.

Scapegoat? don't talk shite.

He's criticised because he doesn't perform his job, which is defending by the way.....with any gusto.

The bloke's a pussy,not a scapegoat..
