I'm sure if Dzeko goes, there will be another class striker already lined up to come in.

Strikers with both Dzeko's goal scoring record are not so easy to come across as Chelsea and Arsenal can testify, Provided he's willing to listen to City with regard to a new contract and is not after "silly" money, with a possible limitation on how many we can have in the squad it would be surely best to get him to sign a new contract.

I fear it is only when he's gone that some City fans will realise what an asset Dzeko has been for City.

This

This too. May not be the best striker on our books but no one has a back up striker as good as Dzeko.

Re: Edin Dzeko (continued)

I've always been harsh on Dzeko but I have a good feeling that he, Kolarov, Garcia and Demichellis are ironically going to be pivotal should we win the league.

Come on Edin lad, bang in another tomorrow.

Re: Edin Dzeko (continued)

I would be happy for him to stay if he would put the effort in like he did vs palace every game. Annoys me when he walks around doing fuck all, yet another game runs around like he's done a kilo of mcat.

I have come to terms that I really don't want Edin sold in the summer, at the end of the day he has scored 22 in 44 games this season so can anybody name another second choice strikers who gets 1 in 2 for their team?

If Edin went I would not be confident going into the season with Negredo and Jovetic as back up strikers, Negredo is on the verge of becoming another Papis Cisse and Jovetic is one of the most injury prone strikers we have had in years.
Most appearence of our strike force I think? First choice, for majority of the season.

Sign him up, for the first time since he came, he looks like he is enjoying himself here. 22 goals is an excellent return.

Re: Edin Dzeko (continued)

I think the penny is finally starting to drop on here regarding Edin..

yes hes as frustrating as this forum during a game... but he's one of the reasons we are in the title race.

we will miss him when he's gone.

I actually would say all things considered - Edin has been our best striker this season.

Most consistent yes.
Whatever your view on edin is never in a million years could you use the words consistent and edin in the same sentence.!! The lads attitude and effort changes from game to game .ie chase hard /amble about .control ball /bounce off.win headers/out jumped by dwarfs.score goals/score conversions

I think he's been pretty consistent this season. Since the Bayern game, let's say. He also looked great against Barcelona and has really gone above and beyond when the other strikers fell out of form/injury. I think he's had good games consistently excepting the one where he kicked the post. And there's nothing nicer than when he tracks back and defends, or when he's spreading the ball around in midfield.

If he goes, which I hope he doesn't, we should make sure the buyers pay out the nose for him. 20m is a steal.

According to Mediaset in Italy, Inter and City are already in talks over his transfer. I'm not sure now if this is a good idea - what IF Negredo doesn't regain the same level of form he had? Dzeko is inconsistent but at least you know a goal isn't too far away.

The surprising thing is with all the constant talk of 'upgrading the squad' that Negredo never needs to be upgraded. If Dzeko goes and Pellegrini wants to play 2 up we need another striker at the level of our best players - Kompany, Aguero, Yaya and Silva.

he only has 1 year left on his current deal, correct? i doubt we'd get 20M+ for him if that's the case.

Funnily enough, the consistency in his season has been when he;s been playing nearly every game.
