Yet another player that has been hung out to dry by the balance of our team and the formation we play! His passing is bad but I think that comes with the pressure he is under he's always getting slatted by our fans and when he does play he's played in a 4 man midfield with yaya nasri silva and the defence 40 yds behind him! Made his name in Portugal in a 3 man midfield and looked good! We buy him and stick him in a 2 and expect him to do the running for 4!

Take a bow young man you have hit the preverble nail on the head. Though you might as well speak to a brick wall as the "Its fashionable to knock Fernando and people will thing I know what I am talking about" mob wont like common sense with football knowledge shinning through.
Seriously? Wow!!!
Both of you need a trip to the opticians.
Fernando is very poor.

I think that the defending midfield problem can be resolved for this season by using Kompany in midfield with Yaya. He will be able to cover the back 4. He's good on the ball and good in tackling which Fernando isn't. I'm pretty sure ot'll work especially against Barca. We need someone to bully them in midfield.

Not sure when this "fashion" started, but I said in August that I didn't think he'd end up being a good player for us because he hides when we have the ball and isn't good enough on it when he receives it. 7 months later, that is the majority view, so as opposed to it being "fashionable" maybe it's the truth?

I said in October that he is only suited to playing in a 3 and should not start a game in a 2, and gave examples. I was told "a stopped clock is right twice a day" and that it was "a coincidence". Again, 4 months later, it is now the majority view. Maybe 40,000 clocks are stopped, or people are jumping on the band wagon to be "fashionable" or then again, maybe it's just true?

You could argue it's not his fault we are not playing him in a 3, that is down to the manager, and he's been roundly criticised himself in the Pellegrini thread for that. But the reality is, he is playing in a 2 the vast majority of the time he plays for us. He's clearly not good enough and more and more people are pointing it out. Not because they want to appear fashionable, but because they want City to win, and they know with this guy playing in a midfield 2 we've got much less chance of doing that because he's simply not good enough.

Your argument of him not being good enough is maybe true, and if so, it points to the manager for how he is being used. That does not however excuse some of the Blue Mooners on here giving him the rediculous abuse and names being called.

I've not seen any personal abuse or name calling mate, but if that's going on then it shouldn't. I've got no personal issues against the guy, he actually seems like a nice person, same as Pellegrini does. My only issue with either of them are footballing matters. I think it's debatable whether Fernando is good enough for us in a 3. Whether he's good enough for us in a 2 is simply no longer even debatable.

I'll be a bit afraid every game that he might get sent off for a late challenge or diving into unnecessary challenges the way Kompany plays. If he can be more patient and chose his battles correctly then it might be a good alternative.

Fernando is very poor.

Just to add I defended Garcia as I could see what he did. For sure he didn't have pace but he was Good in the air, good at blocking the channels, good at closing down danger, He rarely went to ground and he only tackled when it was the last option - but that is what defenders have to do these days. When he had the ball he passed it 10 to 20 yards forward to another City player.
Fernando is the mirror image of Garcia - crap at everything else except pace. Sadly he doesn't use it well.
He has to be sold in the summer - he is totally useless and to me he is worse than Wayne Bridge - the previous holder of the "Bought under the Sheikh but totally useless" award.

You're missing the point pal I'm not saying fernando is great! But he's being made to look a lot worse than he is! Also I was quiteva big fan of garcia again in a 3 man midfield and the right team shape he was a good player and a player I would have definitely kept if we were playing a 3 man mid! Thats the reason I think they got rid then replaced him with a player that needs to play the same role.

Thinking about it vinny could solve alot of problems if he played DM? We would need to sign a top cb but maybe vinny could move up to midfield?

No, he's too injury prone as it is and his hamstrings will be under a lot more stress in midfield. Vinny needs to adapt his game to be less dynamic, not more.
