As someone said and I fully agree, he's a £12m player playing as such. He had a decent game yesterday and deserves credit. He breaks u play very well when playing well.

FFP restrictions are the reason he's here. We took a punt on a decent player at a relative fee. A fee we had. He may turn out great, my thoughts are, he won't, but he will still be worth £12 m in a years time if we decide to sell.

We need a top level £30m centre mid quickly in my opinion and I wouldn't mind betting that's our priority this summer.

I don't think Fernando is top top level, he'd be a decent squad man, in hindsight we should have taken Song on loan, but Fernando is decent player, not great but is worth £12m, and he will be for a good while.

We need better to advance, I think we will see better in the summer.

as a 4th choice option and/or specialist DM in a 433 (that is ocassionally employed) he is excellent

but as third choice CM its poor on our part. we need another dinho level player

I agree with both of these posts. He did ok yesterday, but any time he's not diabolical his supporters come on here saying he was brilliant. He wasn't, he just improved on his recent horror shows.

Song would be ideal to fill this role next season. Always thought he was superb for Arsenal, he found it hard at Barca, but there's been some outstanding players who also struggled there, Suarez, Hleb, Ibra etc.

Personally if we could get out money back on Fernando I'd snap their hands off. We need to have a big summer next season. If Yaya is to go he needs replacing with a big player, Pogba would be the dream signing, and if we got Reus as well I think we'd be serious contenders for the Champions League.

That's pretty much what I wrote. Not good enough to start by any means, but he's been very good in two big games. No where near a starter, but at £12 million I doubt that was the long term plan.

Unless we see him as a potential squad player I don't think Fernando will be with a next season.

He can put in the occasional great tackle but he is nowhere near technically good enough for a DM in the PL, the pace of the league just punishes him.

I thought he would be a decent signing actually but I have changed my mind, like I said he is a decent tackler here and there but his lack of technical ability really gets exposed by the pace of the Premier League.

Makalele didn't have great technical ability.

He may be unappreciated now but watch the balance of our midfield options fall apart if he left unreplaced.

Fernanado's job isn't meant to be flashy and he doesn't have to be highly technical. He seems disciplined enough to handle the Premier League and he keeps his passing simple which is just the job in our team.

Fernando is like Mangala in that they both need to just chill a bit, grow into their roles and stay calm. Both have ability to be part of a top squad, but both are making errors based upon rushing in or getting jittery in possession. As they mature into English football, they'll get better. Nothing to see here, move on.

He would be absolutely fine in a 3, we hardly ever play that way though. The issue is we have so little depth at CM that he's being asked to do a job he can't do much like De Jong and Garcia were.

He defended well against Chelsea. But that was mostly on the ground. In the air he had serious problems against Boro, Arsenal & Everton in previous games.
Also when he has the ball the opposition just drop off him. He needs to step up into the space given him with the ball and draw opposition players towards him - otherwise all our players will remain marked up and we will just pass the ball in front of the opposition defence.
I'm afraid he just isn't good enough for us to win the title.

Problem is we have little depth in CM position. I think he would be fine as a 4th choice, he is not good enough to be more than that it seems. Also I think he would perform better in midfield 3.. but for some reason we always play midfield 2.

Nice that you have given him a good run of games to settle in before writing him off.
