Yeah but should we ignore the fact we have not signed one key player in 6/7 transfer windows and what must be near €200,000,000 spent maybe more I'm afraid to check
City have spent approx £180M in that time.

my point wasnt about spending...my point was that most of these posts ignore that txiki wasnt there for around a third of transfers yet gets blamed for it

He's been around for 5 of them, he is an utter waste of space, I would also hazard a guess he and his mate are no friends of Pep, anyone else.

And don't have a definitive upgrade in the lot. Fern over Barry is a marginal improvement, the rest have just been shifting players. We have also neglected to buy a single player whose value has appreciably improved since their purchase. We would get, and have gotten, less for Savic, Nasty, Sinclair, Garcia, Rodwell, Fernandihno, Navas, Jovetic, Mangala, Willy, and Fernando than what we paid for them. Not an especially impressive track record.

I have to disagree with that. Give me Gareth Barry all day, every day over this guy.

It's funny to read the first two pages of this thread. I still think that he will become a very good player for us.

But of course he's a limited player, a 'specialist', thus we don't really need him for the majority of our games. But 12m for him is not a bad business in any case, prices like that are being thrown away by literally every PL teams, oftentimes for much weaker players than Fernando.

We could have saved nearly £40 million by giving De Jong a new contract.

I can only assume he means Fernandinho. Looking at the amount of games Garcia and Fernando have played in the past 18 months, Barry would probably have been content with that amount of game time, and turned in much better performances than those jokers while also helping us fulfil the HG quota.

Fernando is even worse than Anderson, and it took the clowns at Old Trafford seven years to accept that their own third-rate Brazilian waste of money from Porto wasn't going to 'come good'; I hope it takes us one.

Anderson helped United win the champions League.

In my humble opinion we should never have let Barry and Kolo go. But then I'm only a supporter the management team are the ones who make the decisions and we supporters have to abide by them I suppose.
Kolo and Barry would have done nothing for us. These are 2 guys in the twilight a of heir careers. They would have made no difference whatsoever.

This. We were the champions of England last season and yet the powers that be felt we needed to buy 4 or 5 players to improve. I have no problem with this if the 4 or 5 players are world class to have a real go at the CL but we had FFP restriction of £60m. With this restriction the club should have either bought 2 x £30m proven players or 1 x £60m world class player. Instead we managed to spunk £30m+ on an unproven CB and spent the remainder on a pile of junk, praying that we had picked up a bargain. The club just havent learnt from previous mistakes and until they do we will continue with this cycle.
