Re: Gael Clichy

get rid, another in a long line of shit arsenal recruits, please no more. ever.

Re: Gael Clichy

Kolarov out for a month, this pansy operating the left back position without a rival... We are fucked.

Well, somebody had a shit game. Disappointing, I was hoping he'd turned a corner.

Yeah thats the problem he keeps turning these corners

He is a vicious circle :)

Re: Gael Clichy

I don't think we should slag Clichy off because he has been an excellent player for us, but this season he has fallen miles below the standard we need. He has been poor all season, has pulled out of countless 50/50 tackles and got caught out of position loads of times. saying that, he was excellent against United, but last night that he made a dreadful pass and then compounded it by not stepping up and playing the goalscorer offside. I thought we needed a left back in the summer, we are desperate for one now.

Re: Gael Clichy

I'm not a Clichy lover but I think theres more to it. Last week we played well and Clichy played well. Last night we were abysmal and so was Clichy. I'm trying to get round to saying, he wasn't the reason we lost last night as I'm sure even if he had a blinder, we would have still thrown the match away.

Replacing Clichy will not solve the current problems IMO, its far deeper than that

You two are joking aren't ye?. Have you ever even played football? Number one rule you learn once you start playing as a kid is never pass across your own goal mouth. Once he did that the defence was caught flat footed and unprepared ...to blame anyone else for that is ludicrous

Watch the pass received by Doumbia (the most dangerous CSKA player) again. We had the Defense back & set. Zaba was ball watching with VK closed together & not covering Doumbia who was on his right. It should have been a heads up play for Zaba!
Yes Ball was turnover by Clichy but that did not lead to a breakaway or close to the goalmouth. Its easy to scapegoat Clichy eh?

So you are going to blame the player who turnover a ball that led eventually to a goal even if there are enough defenders back for cover ? Unbelievable!
Yes, yes I am. I'd be pretty sure you never played football or any sport at any level at all...between Clichy giving the ball away and it ending up in our net I'd say was about 4/5 seconds. Our backline seen the daft c*nt with the ball, thought "ok we have possession lets get forward" quickley followed "what the fuck....eh..huh...daft French twat".
You are clearly trying to make Zabs the scapegoat for a horrendous mistake by Clichy...you are in a minority of one if you think it was anyone else's fault but Clichy and he'd tell you himself as you could see by his reaction.
Now go back to watching sumo, karate or whatever's more natural you numpty

I can assure you I have played competitive football & still am playing football in an over 35 yo men's league @ age 60 plus. I am still in great shape. Whereas you are probably playing fantasy football on you playstation & have a beer belly & 3 stones overweight ;)
Why get personal when you don't know Jack about me! Foolish of you. Don't you think so to assume?

Watch the the sequence of events when CSKA counterattacked & we have our Clichy upfront joined the attack prior to that . Clichy tracked backed with pace, CSKA player lost the ball & Clichy was in full flight in close proximity facing our goal. He made a side clearance which in most cases are difficult to have the loft to clear under the circumstances.
Nevertheless CSKA regained possession in our half . We still have the defense & we were not outnumbered. Watch Zaba & VK close together ball watching & not covering any CSKA player. We have 5 City players defending (3 in the center & 2 on the left) the left side, none of them in the centre went over to their right to cover Doumbia.

Zaba was not covering his right flank which allowed Doumbia (his man) to slip through. Zaba should not have been in the centre as there were 2
You have a 'hard on to persecute Clichy'. Why else are you still blaming him for that goal!!

Opponents have sussed up to our wingbacks (Zaba included) when they joined in our attacks which leave us vulnerable to rapid counterattacks. That's a tactic we have to address.

If you played football, obviously you don't, the role of a RB here in this instance is to cover & marked your man on your right especially within your zone. That's Poor defending for a RB!!!

I've seen it countless times. How you can excuse scuffing it across the face of your goal I don't know, you must have a hard on for him because he was shite...they were all shite but he was probably the most. In the second phase Doumbia comes from behind Zabs who is unaware that he's about to become active again. Should every time the ball falls to Clichy our defenders be ready to spring a offside trap or start man marking?...what are you on pal
P.s on second viewing the only player in a position to see Doumbias move back to a onside position and can give the shout is Clichy

Re: Gael Clichy

He was a shower of shite last night, but what was glaringly obvious - especially in the 2nd half - was the fact he had absolutely no cover in front of him. This has happened on numerous occasions this season and to be fair to the lad he ran himself into the ground last night. Fucking woeful clearance mind, although zabaleta was caught ball watching as well. Not good enough yesterday from either.
