Player thread: James Milner (2014/15)

The rags would never be in for him, he's not a "Gaalactico", plues he'd be far too much like what they actually need. It would be an odd move for him as well, as he'd get rotated just as much there as he will here. I think that would be true of wherever he went tbh, unless he takes a big step down. I imagine he'll discover that the grass is not always greener elsewhere.
Part of me thinks he might run out his contract, not receive the offers he expects and end up signing for Southampton/Newcastle/West Ham.

Not a chance. The lads far too good.

He'll either resign or head off to candlepool.

The reality is that in any team hoping to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League every year, only absolutely world class players (+ the goalie) are guaranteed to start. I love James Milner, but he's got to be honest about how good he is. He can either be a squad player for a title-challenging team, or a starter for a team going for top 4. And even that's not guaranteed. Would he start ahead of Ozil, Cazorla, Walcott and Sanchez at Arsenal? I suspect Arsene Wenger would use him in exactly the same way as we have, as a hard-working utility man in a more physical game. Milner is a player that relies on having more skillful players around him. He's not going to go to a lower team and become their main creative player. And if he does, he won't be as effective as he is for us.

Don't recall the rags, chavs or scousepool having 11 wordies playing when they were dominating Europe and domestically. It's having the best team that counts and Jimmy has a role to play in that. Hope he stays as I think he would not regret it

If anyone tells me that they think Milner is crap - I make a note not to have too many football conversations with them.

Was the same with Barry.

Going back,...the same with David Batty.

If you think any of the above were crap - you just weren't watching games properly :)

God forbid.....If that move were to happen.....would the people on this thread, who are fully supportive of his current stance,be just as accepting, and equally happy, about his decision?

Yes, because whereever he goes, he served his contract with City.

I remember having to sign a Gambian physiotherapist on Football Manager to keep Cherno Samba happy. Maybe he's lonely and wants to go to a team with more English lads.

Please for crying out loud City, Sign him up for another 5 years.
