Zabaleta has had an unlucky start to this season so far. 1 own goal and 1 red card in 3 starts in the league. Suspended for CL game as well as the League cup game.

Hope it doesn't get to his head and he recovers his form.

His "form" is fine, but his choice of blunt instrument is somewhat lacking in subtlety at times. He is the only player that, when he gets a yellow in the first half, I always believe will get a second one in the second half. He just can't help himself sometimes, which is his biggest weakness. His other weakness is not being strong enough in the air against the striker who drops off to the far post when the ball is out on our left wing.

Agree with the above. Opponents know if he's on a yellow, to target him. Really hope he leans from Sunday. If we had lost he would have been 100% responsible. IMO if he not been sent off we would have gone on to win our most important game of the season.

We weren't exactly creating a lot when we played Chelsea with 11, but I agree his sending off didn't do us any favours. I tend to say it nearly cost us because he was sent off, not particularly we would have won it if he would have stayed on.

we can't have it both ways, we love zab for his passion and agression so when he gets carded we support him.

bear in mind refs are after us. they will card a city player regardless of how hard or soft they go in. his first yellow demostrates that.

I agree, but regardless, after a premiership player, who has recently played in a world cup final, gets booked - he should be smart enough to not go in for that challenge. He let his passion do his thinking which has IMO ended up in us dropping two points.

Obviously Pellegrini has told the players to kick the crap out of Costa, but he knows he's playing on thin ice coming in from the wrong side and lunging in.

The referee was rubbish, but Zaba gave him no option.
