was gonna start a thread about zabs being past his best and has lost a bit of pace , after the chasing he got in the 1st half tonight , but i couldnt bring myself to do it , because i love the fella , and then he comes up with that goal . I buy my grandson a shirt with zabs on the back every year , and its the best £60 i spend every year .

Was this based on one game and mainly one Roma player in particular who as a shit load of pace?

no , i think zabs has struggled a bit this season , but he has set such a high standard , you dont expect wingers to go past him , watched zabs many times in the flesh and he reads the game so well , something you dont pick up when you watch it from an armchair on TV , his positional sense is excellent. Hopefully his experience will mean he is our 1st choice right back for the next 2 or 3 years , cant imagine a city team without him.

Love zabs to bits but i have to agree this season he hasnt been at his best .

Zaba is slow and really always has been but we wouldn't swap him for any right back in the world. He isn't and never has been the greatest defender around but his warrior qualities along with his great experience means he rarely has a bad game. Then you add his attacking play which has just got better and better and you have our favourite argentinian mancunian.

I think your doing Zab a great disservice there mate.

I wouldn't say he is slow, not by any means but he is not as fast as a lot of wingers. The fact that he has gone on to become one of the best right backs in the world (he is easily in the top 3) is a testament to his footballing ability.

He has never been blessed with the physical attributes of Micah Richards or the pace of Dani Alves but his reading of the game and timing of his runs are second to none.

The game against Arsenal a few seasons ago where he played left back was a masterclass in how to deal with pace. He was up against Walcott and had to release him from his pocket after the match.

Top, top bloke. He seems as happy to play for us as we are that he does, if you get my meaning.

Neville and carrigher seemed stunned the way he popped up for the second goal
Not sure it was a dig at Zabba, to be honest. It was more a case of them wondering what the manager would have been telling his back four; ''just a few more minutes lads, hold your positions and do nothing rash''. And then Zabba goes careering off up the pitch and finds himself in the CF position!

Love the fella; he understands us, and has bought into the ethos of the club. My favourite player at the club.
