But to answer your question in terms of character: undoubtedly Nasri. Most probably because I see much more of myself in him than I do Jimmy. He's got a strong personality, polarises opinion and is instinctively recalcitrant. James Milner is none of those things, relatively speaking.

I could have predicted that we would be rebel soul brothers. The joy and pride of such freedom is beyond the understanding of many.

As for Nasri, from one working class city to another. Samir gets MCFC. Pity that so many City fans don't get him. He's much like them, if only they cared to recognise it.

He was one of the few players who was visibly bothered by the Hull game and tried to do something in that game. Always been a big fan of Nasri. And I agree with the topic, he is a leader on the pitch

Not only that but also the Roma game, he was the one fighting hard for us to stay in with his comments before and also his efforts in the match. He's a great player who's been underrated thanks to the shite media.

A well observed point and one, as a middle class man trapped within a working class psyche, I can fully appreciate.

It's nice to have another rebel soul brother on the board. Everyone else is so anodyne.

Re: Nasri - future captain/vice captain material

His propensity to disappear whenever he's in front of a bunch of booing gooners suggest that there may be something of the invertebrate about him.

That aside, he has, for the most part, been excellent this season.

I slagged this guy off for over 18 months because he simply flattered to deceive and always took the safe option in my opinion. He's proved me badly wrong.

He has been superb for over 12 months, although his technical prowess has never been in question.

For me, he is now showing all the hallmarks of being a proper captain. He is thriving with the responsibility of being one of our main go-to guys in the last year.

He's a winner, he speaks passionately and candidly about the club and the team, he tells it how it is.

It's a decision that would surely never be made, because Komps is the figurehead, but I feel Nasri is more of a natural leader than him because he doesn't try to be someone he isn't, whereas, I feel Komps has become slightly effected and pays lip-service to the role, and it subsequently impacts performance?

Nasri is a bad loser and has the street fighting smarts of the ports of Marseille to back up is talent and mouth.

At very least, would Blues consider him a decent vice-captain, in light of the new contract he signed last year?

Regardless, Nasri deserves huge credit for turning his City career full circle and proving clowns like me wrong.

It's not as outlandish a thought as people think. For me Toure shouldn't be vice captain. I think anyway there's a chance he'll be gone in the summer at which point I'd make Sami vice captain. The reality is that he's such a confidence player that you'd think giving him that responsibility would help him to flourish.

Also very happy to see you and few others coming round to the idea that the isn't a "french pussy". :)

Well, I don't agree that Yaya should not be vice-captain. You only had to watch him in the penalty shoot out at the ACON Final to see his captain's credentials.

As to Nasri, I can claim to be one of his long-term admirers in respect of his time at City. Leadership takes a number of forms and your captain does not have to fit the traditional stereotype. Nasri is an intelligent guy and has shown an increasing willingness to take responsibility; he is also a guy who has grown and matured during his time at City. I can't say with any certainty whether or not he would be a good captain but I would not be dumbfounded to see him flourish in the role if he was given it. Sometimes a player will be made captain and his game will actually suffer, IIRC Colin Bell's form dipped when he (metaphorically speaking) took the armband.

For now, I just want Samir to play well because he is one of our key players.

Those saying they wouldn't want him next to them in the trenches spectacularly fail to appreciate what it takes to survive in such situations.

I'd much rather have someone next to me who had a healthy disrespect for authority, an appreciation of the situation we both found ourselves in and oodles of guile, rather than some unquestioning, pugilistic warrior who just did what he was told and talked of killing the enemy all the time.

Not only would he be much better company, but I reckon he'd significantly enhance my chances of survival.

Andy Morrison would have been dead by Christmas 1914. Why would I want him by my side?

I'm not sure there would be enough room to fit two huge personalities like yourself and our Samir in one trench, do you not think?

Re: Nasri - future captain/vice captain material

Never a captain Nasri. .
Good player though going forward .

Re: Nasri - future captain/vice captain material

Nonononon that would be one of the stupidest descions you could make, he's anything but captain material, and seriously you think he really cares about city like kompany / zaba do, no chance
