Re: Nasri - future captain/vice captain material

I dont think nasri should be captain. I dont think kompany should be captain. Pablo zabaleta is the man who should. Followed closely by milner. Kompany needs to be taken outof the firing line. I firmly believe tthat kompanys form is down to him trying too hard to be the leader. That and injuries ofcourse

Re: Nasri - future captain/vice captain material

Nasri is quite a unique character in this world of meaningless football platitudes. He is actually honest, and it's rare to find a player with that quality.

I think that he would develop as a player with leadership responsibilities. I can't imagine he would ever be captain, but I can certainly see him as vice captain. If Yaya does depart next season, I would be very comfortable with him as deputy.

Zaba's form has been poor too though. He perhaps shouldn't even be in the team at the moment let alone captain and Milner is unlikely to start most matches now we have everyone available.

Love Sami but don't see him as a captain. I always thought he had balls, right from the 2011-12 season on. He didn't always know how to play with Merlin, but he's learnt as he's gone on.
Potential captains in my book: Zab, Hart, even MDM. Vinny is obviously our main man, but I wonder whether it would take the pressure of him in this, a poorish season by his standards, to just be played without having that responsibility. On the other hand, he might react badly.
Funnily enough, I don't really see Yaya as a natural captain, although he does captain his country.

Hart is so far removed from being any type of leader.

Doesn't even speak to the defenders in front of him and if he can get through a game, hiding, he will happily take it.

I'd have agreed with Zabba, but he looks burdened enough, and I don't think MDM will be around for much longer.

Ah well it seems you were right all along, no need for any further discussion...

Manuel, hey Manuel, it is time to make Nasri captain, yes right now, get it sorted it has been decided from above.

Re: Nasri - future captain/vice captain material

I'd happily see Nasri giving a chance as Captain, he appears to be well liked by everyone which has to be important, he does not stand back when something truthful needs saying and he has that little bite inside him that is needed to drive people forward. This is no slant on Vinnie as he has led our club fantastically, however sometimes its good to change things around.

Those saying they wouldn't want him next to them in the trenches spectacularly fail to appreciate what it takes to survive in such situations.

I'd much rather have someone next to me who had a healthy disrespect for authority, an appreciation of the situation we both found ourselves in and oodles of guile, rather than some unquestioning, pugilistic warrior who just did what he was told and talked of killing the enemy all the time.

Not only would he be much better company, but I reckon he'd significantly enhance my chances of survival.

Andy Morrison would have been dead by Christmas 1914. Why would I want him by my side?

I'm not sure there would be enough room to fit two huge personalities like yourself and our Samir in one trench, do you not think?
It's a big trench. You'd also be more than welcome to join us in my trench.

I would stop there mate, you're just digging yourself a bigger hole

Agree and he takes no shit be a top captain

Re: Nasri - future captain/vice captain material

So not such a stupid debate, after all?

Absolutely loved his comments today about Chelsea, and he is bang on, they are nothing special, outside of being consistently functional.

Sure, what Samir said could backfire, but what's the worst that could happen?

It galvanises Chelsea's bullshit siege mentality even more?

We lose the title anyway?, what's the difference between seven points and 17 points when it comes down to it?

If nothing else, he's put his head above the parapet and if that means Nasri is even more focused to produce the goods in the last 13 games, we won't go far wrong in terms of our own results.

Whenever I see Pellegrini pulling someone to one side, it is always Nasri he is passing the instructions to.

I'm not far off agreeing with you. I think Nasri wouldn't be the worst shout. He's a very dynamic player. My guess surrounding your point, Nasri is best placed to get over the point as I'm pretty sure he speaks our three main languages, Spanish, English and obviously French.
