Re: Bacary Sagna

The hardest thing for me to accept about Sagna is that he was supposed to arrive as a premier-ready player who knows the league inside, out and having the two who arrived from Porto would fit into our team easily and help them when Zabba is out. How wrong is that? Last night he was woeful. To make it worse the 31 year old experienced pro kept playing balls to Mangala on the wrong side when the lad was fully closed down by two players rather than take some responsibility himself. It's no wonder the lad has become shaky, he looks frightened to death. I am so angry that we gave this guy a 2 year lucrative contract. Maybe it's systematic of the whole team but he really has let us down and I don't hold out any hope for him to change. Kolarov was also very poor and it seems that since the new contracts were dolled out Dzeko and Kolarov in particular have slipped into "we don't give a **** mode" Manuel for the first time last night looked really angry on the sideline. I hope that he gives the players a wake up call because without effort you don't deserve anything.

Yep, What a shame, on paper very good back up, but every player we sign from Arsenal turns to shit immediately.

Re: Bacary Sagna

Problem is he isn't getting a run in the side with a settled back four I don't think he has been in our side when we have won

My biggest bug bear right now with the gaffer is the constant changing off our full backs.

We need a settled back 4 and so do the players but that said, the lad offers us nothing, especially going forward and should never have been signed imo.

Not good enough for us.

Agree we shouldn't of signed him. We should of told Clichy he is now our right back back up and bought another left back.. But ffp and our cap of 49m hampered us that's probably why we went for a player whose contract had expired...

Re: Bacary Sagna

A big part of our game is zabba pushing on down the right without him nothing comes down the right. In fairness zabba has been very poor to previous seasons

I was expecting he and Nasri to form a relationship on that side, after all they spent some time together at Arsenal, yet Sagna looks completely lost.

We have been spoiled by Richards and Zabaleta, possibly the best two attacking right backs in the Premiership.

What annoys me more than anything about him is that he said he came here to win trophies, but he doesn't bust a gut when he's on the pitch. Full back is physically the most demanding job on the pitch. You watch Clichy and Kolarov, they are constantly bombing forward to overlap, whereas Sagna jogs. I dont think he knows how to sprint.

I took to Clichy, Kolo, Nasri straight away. It's not because he's ex-Arsenal that I've no time for him, it's just he looks like he's coasting

Re: Bacary Sagna

We really need a plan for both full back positions, we're being got at on both flanks which is putting too much strain on the CBs. We need some younger full backs who have many years ahead of them. Imagine if we'd had a young RB learning his trade from Zabba and getting some game time in League Cup.
