Can't believe the article didn't mention Bridge the poor lad.
Sorry to bang on again, but surely it is time for him to inherit the 'king Colin' song. I'll never forget how it was sung constantly on Colin's comeback against Newcastle - the Spanish magician deserves a song worthy of his standing. One minute of 'Ole' does not do the wee fella justice. Even I, sat in the Colin Bell stand, might unfold my arms and join in with the song to David the King ;-)Just read this by Brennan at the muEN:
The midfield wizard has taken Colin Bell's tag as the best Man City man in history but gets ignored by the football world.
He seems to like it that way though, never seeks the spotlight, or does anything controversial or has many fluctuations. Just week in week out brilliance that can often be under appreciated by people who don't watch City week in week out like the fans - but we for sure know how good this guy is. Also feel this takes pressure away from transfers, pretty much never seen him linked remotely seriously with another team, he's quietly very content here & we're all ecstatic to have him.I agree that more should be made of Dave's influence and standing at our club.
He gets the loudest cheer from me when the teams are announced, slightly more than a Sergio cheer, but I agree he should get the recognition he deserves.
got to be the best player to every play for the club and must be in the top few to ever play in the prem/top division
who else comes close to him for influence on a team?
Henry and Bergkamp at Arsenal are definitely up there with him and you maybe could add virea
for chelski i can think of zola who is in the same class as silva in that position/type of player
hate to say it but cantona for them over the road
suarez for liverpool is more of a direct comparison to Sergio (but the fact that Kun isn't a cheat mean he wins that one hands down)....gerrard was a very different type of player and was more about the power than finesse
you could also add yay to that list for us
