Liverpool fans that claim Coutinho is better than Silva.... Shaking my head.... If capital punishment was still in place! Don't think many non city fans realise how good David is because they don't watch him week in week out like we do.

I'd like to know how many assists to the assist Silva has aswell.

He's Iniesta-like in his ability to pick out a killer pass which leads to a simple assist for a team mate.

Fernandinho and De Brunye will rightly get the assists for Kun's 1st and 5th goal but Silva's contribution to them was just as vital IMO.
Telegraph Fantasy Football accredited him with 3 key contributions, usually given for the assist pass.

You need a clear head or plenty of oxygen in the blood to the brain to make the right decisions creatively. This is a fact why the play maker can't keep running back. It's more effective for him to press/squeeze. That's from the horse's mouth.

Pity he didn't have enough O2 on board to make the right decision when it came to tracking back with Wijnaldum. That he is not a defensive midfielder; that he is a contender for our best ever player does not excuse him from letting a man run off him like that. Nor does a dodgy ankle excuse him: it may well not have required a tackle to made to prevent Newcastle scoring. Thankfully, all ended well but a team that had just lost its last two league games really could have done without going behind.

In the relentless pursuit for perfection that is needed to become the best team / club in the world, no one gets a free pass when they mess up. Equally, we do have to accept that no one is perfect and that applies to all our players.

Been away from the board for a while, not seen it mentioned, but apologies if it has - Saturday was the critical evidence that Silva should ALWAYS play in the middle when we play 4231.

The first 25 minutes Silva was on the right and KDB in the middle. We looked absolutely lost as a team, as bad a performance as I have seen since the takeover.

Silva regularly played from a wide right or left position when we played 442, but that shape allowed him to drift inside, in to space. Playing wide with KDB as a number 10 meant there was no space for him to drift in to.

The manager got it horribly wrong. But in fairness to him, he recognised it and switched Silva and KDB on 25 minutes. The change in the team performance was absolutely drastic.

The second half was football from the gods, and although Kun was on fire and could have scored 7 if he'd stayed on, the fluidity, the tempo, the creativity of the team all went through Silva.

De Bruyne is a fine player, but never again should he play at number 10 when Silva is on the same pitch. To execute that role for us as playmaker, dictating play, there is no better player in Europe than Silva right now. The usual suspects might be better individuals, score more goals, but in terms of running a game, Silva is the best.
