Re: Mangala

Was poor today but that's on the back of 2 decent performances. He'll learn what he needs to playing with the worlds best CB vinny. Personally would start MDM on tues tho.

Re: Mangala

Away game in the PL is probably a bit of a culture shock. Chelsea sat back for the most part, and Wednesday never really troubled us at home. Maybe Demi still has a role to play, particularly away from home.

Got rattled after the unfortunate own goal and compounded it with a rash mistake. Not helped to calm down by some decidedly dodgy play from experienced players around him, but needs to settle down after making a mistake, rather than let it lead to others. Saved our bacon with his pace on a few occasions when Yaya kept underhitting square passes in our own half and seemed to calm down and do well in the second half.
Agree with this.

He was at fault for the first but for me, the bigger culprit for the second was Toure with a sloppy pass from the edge that directly led to the pen. He needs to learn a bit still but 2nd half he was better.

Re: Mangala

Had a couple of shockers for the goals but he's young and in the end it didn't cost us, so he'll learn a lot from it.

I was impressed that he never let the yellow get to him and I wondered if he'd get subbed at HT but Pellers trusted him and he came through.

I watched him three times last season and he was excellent in two and abysmal in the other.

So far he's mirrored that this week for us.

I hope he's not this erratic all the time.

The older he gets the less mistakes he will make. CB is a tough position to learn and every CB has had a shocker.

Re: Mangala

There's always this kind of performance in any player, let alone a young player that is getting hyped up to the maximum! Mangala will have learnt as much, if not more, with that game today as he did against Chelsea last week. I have no worries with him and only positives can be taken from his first week as an actual player.

Re: Mangala

HE did well to come back strong from that, Clichy sold himself before the own goal which was a complete fluke, and the penalty looked harsh but haven't seen a replay. He could have gone to bits but didn't.

How good was the own goal? was it one that Richard Dunne would have been proud of?

See the Marcus Stewart front post header for Huddersfield at Maine Road circa November 1999.

Re: Mangala

Nothing to see here folks. Did nothing I haven't seen Kompany do multiple times. He simply had 2 unfortunate touches that were deadly costly. A poor game, that is all. Had nothing to do with getting up to speed or any other of the clap trap a bunch of the announcers were spouting.

Unlucky day for the lad. Seen similar from Komps before. So I'm chalking it up to what it is. His speed, aggression and effort are not in question. And he cleaned up many a bad ball.

On the other hand, I am never popping into the match day thread ever again. It is straight up vermin territory. I know everyone is high on emotion, but some on that thread need a bib for their verbal diarrhea. Disgusting!

Anyway Lamentations done :)
