Re: Mangala

Well done Pelle for not giving him the hook.

With Martin on the bench the temptation must have been there but it would have affected Quim's confidence had he dragged him off.

Why is everyone so convinced he's class? He has shown pace and strength but precious little else. Two defensive situations today with hardly any trouble in sight and the ball is in the back of our net twice because of him. That ain't good by any standards. He showed the same nervousness on Wednesday night.

This clown for real ?

Demischellis got a massive amount of stick when he started. Just goes to show about rushing to judgement!
Last season, if you'd not seen him play and read about 4 of Vincent Kompany's games people on here would have had him dropped and never playing for City again. His poor clearance led to the dippers winner. Against Hull he was caught hopelessly out of position and, you could argue, he was responsible for the Demischellis sending off against Barcelona. He scored a 'clown car' own goal against Fulham. He's had one or two other moments as well (Milner sending off v WBA, springs to mind).
This is NOT a pop at VK, far from it. Just shows what can happen to even the best of defenders sometimes. As for Mangala, none of us yet know. What I do know is that getting on his case, as many did with MDM, will not help the lad. He's now a City player, not immune from criticism, but not deserving of opprobrium, I would suggest.

Re: Mangala

I was talking to some Portuguese lads last year and whilst they rated Fernando they just laughed at Mangala as a prospect. Personally I think he will develop into a star pairing with Vinny. Just needs a bit of time to get the feel of it. The own goal was a hiccup & had a lot to do with Clichy letting their guy walk round him so easily.

Re: Mangala

the og affected him but thought he played well in the main, the pen well that was clumsy but not intentional in my opinion anyone slagging the lad off should remember all players have off days and cut him some slack. for me he looks like he's gonna be a great defender for us

Re: Mangala

On the basis of some City fans assessments, Jerome Boateng was also clueless, a donkey etc who now plays regularly for the former European champions. I think it's safe to say its way to early to judge but from what I have seen of the lad he oozes class and two mistakes will not sway me from that 'initial' judgement.

People should also remember kompany has been known to make a mistake as does everyone. He looks quality and is still young

It's obviously too early to judge the lad but the truth is he didn't play well in the main, he was awful.
